… Skytrains are starting their taxi roll, on their way to Normandy for the 75th D-Day celebrations.
The aircraft on the right has had quite a busy life. She was part of the first few batches delivered by Douglas to the Army Air Corp in 1941, and saw action in Africa and the Middle East during the war.
She was sold to France in 1945 and operated by the French Air Force till the mid sixties. In 1967, she was sold again to Israel and operated by the Israeli Defence Force till finally retired in 1995.
Since then, she’s been a favourite at air shows all over the US and made the trip to Europe for the 75th D-Day anniversary celebrations. For the occasion, she wears the livery of 43-15087, a C-47A which dropped part of 3rd battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry in Normandy in the early hours of June 6th. Daks over Duxford

Pronounced [katana], the kun'yomi (Japanese reading) of the kanji 刀, originally meaning dao or knife/saber in Chinese, the word has been adopted as a loanword by the Portuguese. In Portuguese the designation (spelled catana) means "large knife" or machete.

Heading to Town on HWY 99, generally looking North, the side of the road blurring by, farmers fields and North Shore mountains in the distance.
This time as a passenger, I can take a few shots.
The Tower of London in all its glory looking innocent and majestic yet this was the scene of so much horror- torture and murder and political games. Owned by the Queen it was built by William the Conqueror as a fortified palace. It imprisoned Elizabeth 1 at one point and very much later the Kray twins. It has held the Royal Mint and other offices and of course the Crown Jewels! Note also front left the entry to the Traitors Gate now bricked up.

De Amerongse Bovenpolder is na 25 jaar van plannen maken in 2016 omgevormd tot de grootste natuurparel in de Utrechtse Uiterwaarden. Het gebied is nog unieker en mooier gemaakt door de aanleg van kwelmoeras, nieuwe natuur en een kwelgeul.
