I caught just the tip of this flower in the focal plane. There is some of the flower in focus, but the image really pulls the rest in to a blurry oblivion.
We're having such nice weather for June. The temperature has only flirted with 100 a couple of times and the evenings are simply beautiful. We eat dinner outside almost every day. Unfortunately, the temperature will soon approach that of an oven.
At the age of about 12 some schoolfriends introduced me to the pleasures of hunting for bottles on an old tip in Penylan. We'd regularly head over there to dig up numerous bottles, clay pipes & pot lids until it came to an abrupt end when the local branch of Sainsburys was built on the site.
Yesterday, we explored a 4 county stretch of the Old Lincoln Hwy. This is a teaser of me and the Big Coffee Pot.

Handy tip for travel in Ireland: Pack items that can mix and match. Half way through your trip take all the clothes you aren't wearing and have them laundered. Drop them off in the morning and pick them up that evening.

The famous 'Finger-tip Traverse' on the normal route ascending Stetind (sort of VS). The traverse runs out and a higher set of hand jams concludes this short but difficult section. Bolts and chains are placed higher on the ridge for an abseil descent.
saw loads of orange tipped butterflies at Lunderston Bay this afternoon but this was the only one I got a half-decent shot of. The females have a grey rather than orange tip to their wings
The Rio Grande of Southern Texas is a must visit spot for US birdwatchers. There are almost 40 mainly Mexican species that barely enter the US to be found there, and birders flock from every corner of the country to add them to their life lists. The white-tipped dove is one of the less exotic looking of these specialty species, but it does have its charm. The South Texas woodlands certainly would not be the same without its distinctive call, which sounds exactly like somebody blowing over the mouth of a Coke bottle. Occasionally these woodland birds will shoot like a rocket from one patch of trees to the next. Like all doves, they may look like the image of serenity, but they can and do fly like a shot when needs be.
