January 1, 2016 - January 31, 2016
every night from 11:57pm-midnight
Photograph by Ka-Man Tse for @TSqArts. Midnight Moment is a presentation of the Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC) and Times Square Arts. Midnight Moment: A Digital Gallery is the largest coordinated effort in history by the sign operators in Times Square to display synchronized, cutting-edge creative content at the same time every day.
Laurie Anderson adapts her feature film, Heart of a Dog, which has been short-listed for an Academy Award, for Times Square. Heart of a Dog is a collection of stories about dogs, time, family, love, memory and death. In the middle of the film there is a sequence from "The Tibetan Book of the Dead" that describes the transition of energy and consciousness at the time of death. In this portion of the film, which is the section that will be shown in Times Square, Anderson creates a visual song, filled with a wild collage of images.
A NYPD officer in an bomb suit examines a Nissan Pathfinder sport utility vehicle parked in New York's Times Square May 1, 2010. An apparent failed car bomb that was smoking and emitted a "flash" in the sport utility vehicle sparked an evacuation of New York's Times Square on Saturday night as authorities worked to dismantle the device during Broadway's peak period. Every five years on the anniversary of the end of World War II, the Times Square Alliance holds a Times Square Kiss-In where hundreds of people re-enact the legendary lip-lock between a U.S. sailor and nurse, captured forever on the cover of LIFE Magazine.
This year, the event took place on the Broadway Plaza between 43rd St. & 44th St with an incredible turn out and plenty of sunshine.

Note the date and the fact that Xmas advertising is already prominent. Also, light-ip lobster in foreground. New York City, November 2 2007.
Unfortunately this in my only "good" picture of the Timessquare. I had a Tripod with me, but I didn't make another picture because I thought I would go there again at night. Well, that way I have to go again next year ;)
