Every five years on the anniversary of the end of World War II, the Times Square Alliance holds a Times Square Kiss-In where hundreds of people re-enact the legendary lip-lock between a U.S. sailor and nurse, captured forever on the cover of LIFE Magazine.

This year, the event took place on the Broadway Plaza between 43rd St. & 44th St with an incredible turn out and plenty of sunshine.

Broadway was closed through the lower half of Times Square on Sunday

afternoon, and filled with pedestrians. The cafe tables and chairs on

the island between 46th and 47th offer a taste of what's to come.
