Timelapse en el municipio vallisoletano de Nava del Rey.

Shot on a D300 with a Sigma 20mm f/1.8

The reason the time lapse flickers is because the lens was stopping down to f/11 for every shot. The lens would have slight variations in aperture every time (f/11.1, f/9.9, etc), causing the slight flicker. Post processing enhanced the contrast which excentuated the differences in exposure.

Manual Exposure

Sensitivity: ISO100

Aperture: f/11

Shutter: 1/200

Future time lapses will have a slower shutter speed so that the motion is more fluid. I will also manually stop down the lens so that there is no flicker. This was mostly an exercise in editing color in video, which I did using batch Develop Settings in Bridge and Photoshop CS4.

These sequences were shot over a period of one year on my treks and trips across India. This being my first timelapse video, I tried my best. Looking forward for your feedback.

The first timelapse I've done was just for testing the tools and learn how to do it. This view is from my balcony. The clouds were moving pretty fast yeasterday and I found it interesting. I hope I can do better ones in the near future :)

This is a short 12fps timelapse shot somewhere around Midnight. The moon was so bright that long exposures looked like I was shooting during the day. Wish I would have shot for longer intervals, but it was getting pretty frigid! Maybe next time.

from the archives. not a recent day just cleaning out the video directory...

created with this line

ffmpeg -r 10 -b 1800 -i foo%03d.jpg outputmovie1800.mp4

makes all files in sequence foo001.jpg to foo999.jpg that exist assemble into a single movie.

"-r 10" is 10 frames per second.

"-b 1800" sets bitrate maximum to 1800 kbps/s but i didn't play with this much yet. i think this is much below that.

there are lots of other options. see here: electron.mit.edu/~gsteele/ffmpeg/

As I told you a few days ago, I’m taking part in a timelapse contest. Well, I finally finished the video and uploaded it on the web. The next step is to watch the video about a thousand million times, as the winning video is the most watched one… so now I ask you to please watch it, and please get back to me and tell me your thoughts. Hope you like it!

stop motion timelapse of wellington. The photos were taken every 4 minutes over the course of an hour. I later edited this into one photo where it gradually changes to night from left to right. This was my first time doing a stopmotion timelapse and even though I managed to keep the framing exactly the same, I dont think I really nailed the camera settings- the exposure jumps around a bit, and even with a little bit of editing I dont think it was a very smooth transition. I also think if I had maybe taken photos every 2 minutes instead of 4 the timelapse would've been smoother. I ended up liking the photo timelapse more than this video as I was able to get a smoother gradual change.
