Another year has passed. A new year about to begin. It's time to reflect on where we've been and where we are going.
Wishing everyone a Safe and Happy New Year. May it be prosperous, and full of love, laughter, and excitement - and even a few Explore shots thrown in from time to time.
Seen at Callaway Gardens, outside the Day Butterfly Center. Nov 2013

Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)
--
The mute swan is a very large white waterbird.
It has a long S-shaped neck and an orange bill with black at the base of it.
Metering from the swan darkened the surroundings and helped to create the narrow reflection.
Taken while on a family outing to Culzean country park.

Sitting in the shade at the Lotus Pond, while waiting for the frogs to reappear, we took time to enjoy the beauty of nature surrounding us.
This pond twinkling in the sunlight before us, and a wooded area behind us where a multitude of birds were serenading us, not to mention the multitude to dragonflies zipping around and even the occasional butterfly.
Enjoyed at Dauset Trails Nature Center.
I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because I see everything in it.

Evert day i write the list ..
of reasons of why i still believe they do exist.
(a thousand beautiful things)
And even though its hard to see..
the glass is full and not half empty.
(a thousand beautiful things)
So ....light me up like the sun,
to cool down with your rain.
i never want my eyes to close....

My first Meadow Pipit, I had along walk into the heather uplands to find some peace, time to reflect, It was pleasant weather and the climb was interesting and tiring. My first visitor on the heather was this little fellow at first I thought was a lark as it gained height quickly singing as it went and came down in a parachute style.

I like to go away for my birthday and I was blessed this last time with a wonderful sunset over the Quantock Hills in Somerset. The hills in the far distance are on Exmoor with Minehead on the coast. Worth viewing large to get a better view of those pebbles in the foreground. This one is for Ben.

I spent an hour or so watching the sunset at Birdham, West Sussex yesterday evening and enjoyed the peace of this location.
This image was taken about 10 minutes after the sun had disappeared for the day, the wind dropped and the last of the colour in the sky reflected on the still water of the creek.
2.5 second exposure using Lee 0.9 + Lee 0.6 (reversed)ND grad Filters.

Ugly red building in old Jacksonville. It has this mirror door and it was reflecting the tree across the street perfectly.
Taken on 12/15 and just didn't get around to posting it....I love when the lake is quiet and calm and reflective. It makes me want to sit and reflect myself.
Usually it is frozen this time of year, it may be now since we have had some very chilly weather. I may stop up there tomorrow and see if we have some thin ice.
