‘Twas a dark and stormy Saturday afternoon at Pataphysical Studios, but the doctors braved the pouring rain and came out in droves to make art together.
We celebrated Dr. Figurine’s birthday in style, with a nice apple pie and small gifts ranging from a DVD on how to play the theremin to a handmade wooden box and stock in the Mind Shaft Society.
We all sat around our Time Machine framework and had stimulating discussions about our next pataphysical invention -- as well as our many related maker art projects:
• Dr. Rindbrain demonstrated the new remote-controlled lights for the Time Machine
• Dr. Fabio had his head examined after a rough encounter with a rose bush
• Dr. Canard prepared electronic supplies for students of the City of the Future class
• Drs. Figurine and Heatshrink started building a theremin together
• Drs. Really and Canard displayed an arted-up jug of ‘pataphysical water
• Drs. Canard and Fabio used a Ouija board to reach out to the spirit of Alfred Jarry
• Dr. Rindbrain painted another pair of shoes while discussing art with Dr. Zboon
• Dr. Fabio proposed ideas for the Time Machine controller, with the Ouija board as an example
• Drs. Figurine lit up the pataphysical flag pole with El Wire
A fine time was had by all and we kept learning from each other for the greater good.

"a secret revealed"
As you can see @ the date :
taken back a while ago, in France,
after a 9 hours car drive to a first photography course i enlisted,
where I picked up the basics of photography again, and most of all,
where I picked up something of me
that was lost for years :
creativity and the urge to do
something for myself again.
Since then my life transformed quickly
& amazingly,
I wouldn't recognize myself anymore :)
for 52 weeks in 2014 : time machine
for me again Monday : a secret
Each Saturday, the good doctors make art together at Pataphysical Studios.
Here are this week’s notable art projects:
• Drs. Really and Rindbrain created a banner for an art protest, ‘Traffic Jam Valley’
• Dr. Rindbrain developed ‘Magical Thought’, an illuminated wonderbox
• Dr. Fiske dropped by to record an impromptu video of Pataphysical Studios
• Dr. Figurine showed off the head and body of her Owl for our Dada Exhibit
• Dr. Fabio presented composite sketches for the Time Machine, based on team designs
• Dr. Truly demonstrated how to share videos on social media while lying flat on your back
• Dr. Canard discussed her Dada Mobile with Dr. Zboon, who then created a greeting card
• Dr. Fabio showed off a new circle design for the Crazy Clock, discarding its old frame
We then went on a nice walk to Oakwood Valley. On the way, Dr. Rindbrain re-discovered himself and nearby dimensions on a neighborhood pole. We then played in a secret grove of bay trees, deep in the heart of the valley.

First sketches and models for the Time Machine, a new interactive art project created by Pataphysical Studios.
In this brainstorm session, each team member sketched out their own ideas, then discussed them with the group, to design our upcoming time travel experience together.
Next, we plan to create a composite design with some of these ideas, to integrate them into a single blueprint.
To be continued ...

Si, es ella, quienes creíais que nunca llegaría a existir...aquí esta.
The machine time, Curruncho creatures 2013.
Shot on Lomography Color Tiger 110 film in a Voigtlander 110EL camera. I love this camera because it is like a time machine, almost every photo I get out of it looks like it was shot during my childhood.
This is a relatively new sign (about 5 years old) that is also in my neighborhood, on a street much newer than the one that has the vintage sign. There he is: the boy in knickers running! I put it up here in my photostream as a way to share the continuity of this image in time.
Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.
On a balmy Saturday, the good doctors gathered once again at Pataphysical Studios to make art together.
Here are some of the maker art projects we worked on this week:
• Dr. Canard created a greeting card and painted the Crazy Clock black
• Dr. Figurine worked on her Theramin and played a video of Jim Henson’s Limbo puppet
• Dr. Rindbrain showed his new painted shoes on Mamie’s iPhone app
• Dr. Smiles painted her dad on an iPad (note Mamie’s new doctor name)
• Dr. Fabio attached the Crazy Clock frame to the Time Machine

We spent another magnificent afternoon at Pataphysical Studios this Saturday, making art together … and playing at the edges of time.
Our visitors this week were Jim Neidhardt (now Dr. Neidhardt) and his lovely wife Denise (Dr. Now?), longtime friends of Drs. Rindbrain, Skidz and the Queen of the Desert. Jim showed us the ‘hypno-disks’ he is working on to create experiences like this surreal Duchamp film, Anemic Cinema: youtu.be/AsnhBUp7xxM?t=24s
We had a great conversation and I knew they were like-minded folks when Dr. Neidhardt and I both exclaimed at the same time the same exact phrase: “Life IS Change!”. Jim is interested in contributing to our madcap art adventure, so stay tuned. Learn more about his work at: neidhardtstudio.com/
Throughout the day, we brainstormed more ideas for our new Time Machine, while working on sundry maker art projects:
• Dr. Rindbrain and Canard put the finishing touches on their music box
• Drs. Figurine and Heatshrink prepared to assemble a theremin together
• Dr. Fabio drew a first sketch of what a time controller might look like
• Dr. Igor and Heatshrink both gave Dr. Figurine nice gifts for her birthday
• Dr. Tout de Suite considered lighting up her goggles, chose to paint instead
• Dr. Zboon discussed time travel and made a birthday card for his friend Ernesto
• Dr. Canard created a colorful zen map, inviting other doctors to art it up
• Dr. Rindbrain added more rainbow-colored lights to the Time Machine framework
It was great to stretch out to the edges of time and back again in the company of my friends.

Pataphysical Studios is building a Time Machine for our next art exhibit. On a balmy spring afternoon, Drs. Rindbrain and Fabio created more visualizations of what the Time Machine might look like.
We sketched out several ideas for the inside and outside walls, for discussion purposes. On each side of the main screen, we designed round portholes through which we could interact with our guests -- or show scenes from the past or future. Behind each porthole would be a magic box that could feature artifacts from distant times -- or the head of a historical figure, projected onto a ‘life cast’. The rest of the inside walls would be used for other interactive artworks such as the Crazy Clock, which sings quotes about time when you press its big green button.
On the outside walls, we sketched out a Face Box that you could stick your head in to get your picture taken. It would include an Infinity Mirror made of LED strips cycling through the colors of the rainbow, with a camera at the end of this light tunnel. We also sketched out where time wonderboxes could be placed on the side walls, proposing that the left wall focus on the past and the right wall on the future. A graphic timeline across both walls could support that idea.
It was a productive meeting and we look forward to presenting these ideas to our fellow doctors at the next Time Machine meeting.

A fearless crew of ‘pataphysical doctors went on an art expedition to Treasure Island, looking for hidden gems and inspiration. This call to adventure came from Drs. Canard and Figurine, and we were joined by Drs. Heatshrink, Really and Truly.
We started by scouring this quaint flea market, where we found many worthy artifacts for our Time Machine and other art projects. We then headed over to Building 180, where some of Burning Man’s most treasured artworks were created. There, we met with artist Peter Hudson, who showed us Eternal Return, his latest stroboscopic zoetrope, which is an amazing work of art and science.
We also got a chance to view some other legendary artworks in this building, before it closes down at the end of the month, including Marco Cochrane’s original models for Bliss Dance and his large-scale steel sculptures of nude women.
It was an inspiring visit, and I enjoyed visiting this mecca of Burning Man art -- and meeting Peter, whom I had heard so much about. And it was great fun to go on this little expedition with my maker friends, to collect art debris and inspiration for our next creations!

Wow, looks like the Danbos have found a new hobby: Time travelling. Today they tried out their very own time machine. They gave me instruction how it works and then stepped into the machine. Then this thing gave some weird sounds from itself and shortly after the Danbos were away. It took some time until they reappeared in their little box. The Danbos said they were 100 years back and everything was looking so cool. Too bad this time machine is that small. Otherwise I would like to test it too.
He didn't actually wear the weirdly coloured cap whilst on the hoverboard in the movie, but I couldn't resist adding it.

I decided to make this Nixie clock inspired by old typewriters and the Enigma Machine.
Everything is made from scratch, including the typewriter style keys.
All without the use of hightech machinery.
The typewriter keys are fully functional, and are used to adjust time, date, preferences and temperature.
