History "13 Days"
My piece is a scale model of the Soviet R-12 Dvina, the missile the Americans found in Cuba that started the Cuban Missile Crisis. On the Missile there is a hammer and sickle, which is a popular symbol of Soviet communism. The missile is entirely red to symbolize communism. Attached to the flag there is a Cuban and Soviet flag, symbolizing the aggressors. Pulling the missile by a chain is an American flag which symbolizes the American fight to remove the missiles from Cuba. I wanted my missile to be to a 1/20 scale because it gives the viewing pleasure of a large piece, and can also put some perspective on how big a missile really is.
