The sand tiger shark is the only shark species that swim to the surface and swallows air in order to regulate its buoyancy. This enables it to remain motionless at any depth while seeking prey. It is listed as “Critically Endangered” on the IUCN Red List. It is not listed under CITES. The population is likely declining at a rate of 30 percent or more every ten years. Sand tiger sharks are a prohibited species for recreational and commercial fishermen in NOAA’s Highly Migratory Species Compliance Guide. Its current threats include accidental mortality due to by-catch.

I LOVE tigers!!! How beautiful is this guy!?! He was a little silly though cause he had his tongue hanging out of his mouth the whole time I was there, usually much more than it is here.
I really enjoy visiting the Amur tiger section at Longleat, as I find them extremely beautiful animals. The tigers at Longleat are well looked after, and the zoo keepers are very good at feeding times as they occasionally hide the meat in the branches of trees so that when the tigers are let into their enclosure they have to search for their food.
Amur tigers are fully mature and able to mate from 4 years of age. Their cubs are born small, helpless and blind and depend on their mother for safety and for the mother’s milk. Tiger cubs grow very fast and will be almost 4 times their original size after just one month.
The Amur tiger is also known as the Siberian tiger, and are considered to be the largest of all of the big cats. They have many stripes; however no two tigers have the same stripe pattern. Amur tigers are now protected by law in the wild and are linked to conservation projects
The Conservators' Center in Caswell County NC is a nonprofit organization that preserves threatened species through educational programs and rescuing wildlife in need.
Tiger.
I spent a half-day at the Assiniboine Park Zoo here in Winnipeg photographing the critters with a household friend, Josh. He was up from the States for the Folk Festival. His hobby is zoo photography and it was fun to go along with him.

Rocky the Siberian tiger at the Cape May County Zoo in Cape May, New Jersey. He was lying down, when all of a sudden he hopped up and stared intently at someone passing by his exhibit. We watched as Rocky remained totally focused on this person and followed him as he passed the exhibit. This did not seem to be a playful stalk but an "I want to eat you" stalk. The person was not a child -maybe he was the zoo veterinarian?

Didn't realise I could use the Fractulius plug-in with photoshop elements, now I've downloaded it I've been trawling through photos to see how I can apply the filter. Not to everyone's taste I'm sure, but I quite like the images it produces.
