Sleepy tiger.

Glad he is not looking at me.

Here's Number 7 taking a walk, just before she disappeared into the bushes.

Siberian tiger at the Dartmoor Zoological Park, Devon

This tiger was the easiest of the three to get pictures of because he moved more by himself.

I caught these two tigers in a moment of being friendly with a gentle touch of their heads.

Shot on 2012/06/23 morning at Bandipur Forest (Male Tiger of Bandipur)

A male tiger of Bandipur Forest. On 23rd morning, we waited near a lake in his territory for about half an hour. And then he showed up and moved majestically towards the lake for his morning Jacuzzi.

I wasn't going to upload this shot, but I decided to anyway. The owner of Jungle Cat World kindly allowed me really fantastic access to Nadya and allowed me to stand on a cart to shoot over the fence so I could have an unobstructed sight line. I was never really in danger, but Mrs. Klose did warn me that she might make a run for the fence if she became interested in me or what I was doing, or I leaned too far over the fence. Well, one of those things must have happened because this was the last shot I got before I RAN off the cart when I saw her coming at me at about 60 mph. I suspect she heard the camera shutter and wanted to remind me which side of the fence to stay on.

Panthera tigris sumatrae

The Sumatran Tiger is the smallest of all surviving tiger subspecies. Male Sumatran tigers average 204 cm (6 feet, 8 inches) in length from head to tail and weigh about 136 kg (300 lb). Females average 198 cm (6 feet, 6 inches) in length and weigh about 91 kg (200 lb). Its stripes are narrower than other subspecies of tigers' stripes, and it has a more bearded and maned appearance, especially the males. Its small size makes it easier to move through dense rain forests. It has webbing between its toes that, when spread, makes Sumatran tigers very fast swimmers. It has been known to drive hoofed prey into the water, especially if the prey animal is a slow swimmer.

Sumatran Tigers commonly prey on larger ungulates, like Wild Boar, Malayan Tapir and deer, and sometimes also smaller animals, like fowl, monkeys, and fish. Orangutans could be prey, but since they spend a minimal amount of time on the ground, tigers rarely catch one. Sumatran tigers will sometimes prey upon mice and other small mammals when larger prey is scarce. INFO: Weight: 115-180 KG Body length: 140-180 cm Tail length: 60-80cm High and withers: 0-90cm

This tiger had just been fighting with another and was snarling in rage.

The Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica), also known as the Amur, Altaic, Korean, North Chinese or Ussuri tiger, is a subspecies of tiger which once ranged throughout Western Asia, Central Asia and eastern Russia, and as far east as Alaska during prehistoric times, though it is now completely confined to the Amur-Ussuri region of Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai in far eastern Siberia, where it is now protected. It is the biggest of the nine recent tiger subspecies and the largest living felid, attaining 320 kg (710 lb) in an exceptional specimen. Genetic research in 2009 revealed that the current Siberian tiger population is almost identical to the Caspian tiger, a now extinct western population once thought to have been a distinct subspecies.

India trip, day 5: the tiger got closer before walking off into long grass beside a lake. You can see the radio collar clearly in this shot. It was a magnificent animal.

Malayan Tiger Cub ++++ Male

One of six living subspecies of tiger, the Malayan tiger wears the characteristic striping pattern of black stripes on orange and white that provides excellent camouflage in the forest. Using its quiet stalking ability, a tiger will ambush large prey, often pouncing on it from the rear. Other than females with their young, tigers are solitary and come together only to mate. Each tiger defends its own territory from others of the same gender. Territories must be large to provide enough prey for a tiger to eat. As more and more forests disappear, tigers struggle to maintain a territory with sufficient prey.

•A tiger may travel up to 20 miles a night in search of prey.

•Unlike most cats, tigers seem to enjoy swimming and soaking in water.

•A tiger’s roar can be heard up to two miles away.

•One out of every 10,000 tigers will lack the orange coloring. These white tigers are not albinos; they simply express a recessive gene.

The tiger was walking around today, roaring every few seconds. He seemed a little bit angry...

Um dos animais mas belos do zoo. O que achei estranho é que eles viram a pedra que estava de molho na frente da jaula e ficavam passando língua, devia estar com fome aquilo era saboroso para eles.
