Stormy light over the coastline of the Moray Firth in Scotland. Cullen Bay has a real mix of terrain. The Cullen end of the beach is mostly sandy and flat, whereas the Portknockie end is rugged and unpredictable. Much more to my taste for photographic purposes.

Incoming wave rushing past a dead tree and some rocks on the shore of a secluded section of beach

Dalmore as described in a previous image is a special place. It is also very beautiful and has powerful rip currents at different times and tide heights. The beach is beautiful and very often deserted. I dodged very heavy, thundery downpours which created a special drama to an already stunning place.

The East coast was hit by a tidal surge last night! The jettys in Bridlington Harbour were completely covered by sea water! The cafe's and fishermans huts were also flooded! This shot was taken a hour and a half before high tide...

Trying to point the camera away from the obvious target at Castle Tioram., I was trying to find something interesting amongst the rocks and seaweed at the base of the fortress.

It has been a while since I've ventured into this playground and have missed you all. I did shoot some new material, but had not much chance to process it yet, so thought will share with you a somewhat familiar scene if from a slightly different angle.

Have a great rest of the week!

This is one of the views from the Fundy Trail Parkway. It is not part of Fundy National Park but it’s not far from there. The parkway is a not-for-profit park started in 1998 and supposedly it will be taken over by the NB provincial park systems in December of this year. It is a gated park and it is closed for the winter season. The parkway stretches over 30 km, with more than 35 km of hiking and biking trails. We took a day to explore some the parkway this past fall and try some of the hiking trails. I love the views of the Bay of Fundy. The water colors show the shallow muddy parts where the tide is coming in. On our return drive along this part, the water was all blue again with the high tide.

This is a photo of the dancing patterns of evening light reflecting and refracting on the different layers of a tidal pool at Cape Forchu. The pool has taken on the colour of jade in the evening light, and amidst the optical distortions of the undulating water, the rocks seem to swim like fish.

I had to redesign this for a 3:1 landscape for Atlas Dei and it about drove me crazy but the result was well worth it.
