These small tidewater patches don't freeze all winter long. They occur in drumlin- and esker-festooned tidal flats between Arviat and Whale Cove, west shore of Hudson Bay. This one is in a channel between bays that is being kept open by tidal currents.

I've been travelling over some half dozen scattered water patches in this locale for years and finally got lucky in 2019. It was a clear day with a crisp wind providing a visible icy plume blowing offshore from a black patch of open water. Mile-high west-facing aerial view.

I believe the 2 upper birds are Willets (Tringa semipalmata) -- but I'm very open to input.

There are so many similar shore birds, I'm not always sure which is which....

I had a great time with my sisters when they came for a visit. We found a fantastic little place on the beach and enjoyed every minute.

I still have hundreds of images that I haven't gone through.... : ]

I'll be catching up over the next week---hope everyone is having a great week so far!

The low lighthouse or a lighthouse on stilts! This is one of three lighthouses in Burnham on sea, This is also a Grade II listed building which stands on the foreshore. First lit in 1832. We visited on 12th March 2020 when the tide was high. The weather went from stormy skies to rainbows and calm but very cold and breezy! but a nice bacon roll and a cup of tea was on hand afterward. A good memory.

This is a photo of striated coastal bedrock and a tidal pool at Mavillette Beach.

This is a shot of the wood grain on an old wooden table that I saw at the antiques market in Kempton Park.
