We're going to see Vanna White!
Well, I'm not going, but my wife and daughter are (and two friends).
Tickets to get into the rally
for my reflections on the event, read my blog entry: moodringofdestiny.blogspot.com/2008/11/obama-election-ral...
One of the two books of tickets I saved from a skip outside the Grand Theatre in Llandudno during conversion to a nightclub back in the late 1980s. The tickets are for Friday, July 4th, 1958 and are for the Front Stalls at 6 Shillings each.
UPDATE: Thanks to Geraint Morgan from Llandudno Library, who says that the show that night was "a Dennis Driscoll comedy play called 'Job for the boy', a bit of a North country comedy. Leading parts include Richard Steele, Shelagh Tiffany, Ian Shand and Mark Eden (Alan Bradlee from Coronation Street)".
The Grand Theatre was built in 1900, closed as a theatre in 1980, and was reopened as a nightclub in the late 1980s. It remains open as the Broadway Boulevard nightclub today.
Wartime poster seen affixed inside newly restored London transport RT8, this is one about saving used tickets so that they can be used as wadding in shells. 03/08/10.
This little booklet contained six Great Eastern Railway return tickets from Edmonton Green in Middlesex to Liverpool Street station in London. My father worked as an office boy in Budge Row in the City and travelled in each day. These tickets were sold at a concessionary rate to workers but he joined the Royal Navy in June 1913, aged seventeen, so didn't apply for the next week's booklet of tickets. However, he kept this little memento of that time.
One of the perks at work: "movie fridays". They rent out a theater for a full office showing. This week is Pirates 3 :) Did I mention it was FREE? haha
