A trip back twenty-five years this week to 1995, and a collection of City Imps on College Street. ML 28 is seen parked at the 155 terminus, while behind it there is an Imp on the 83 and another also on the 155. Route 155 went over to City Imp in 1994 when it replaced the former Dublin Bus route 55. The 155 ran from the city centre to Limekiln Farm in Greenhills, and was operated from Donnybrook Garage, whereas the 55 was a Ringsend Garage route. The route operated a high-frequency of every 10 minutes for most of the day. It only lasted until around 2001 when it was replaced by a rerouted 19A on the southside. The 155 number reappeared on the network again in 2019, but this time running between Bray and Ballymun.
ML 28 was delivered new to Dublin Bus in 1995. It was one of 35 members of the class delivered between 1994 and 1995. Most members of the class were withdrawn from around 2001 onwards, when Dublin Bus started to move away from minibuses. Some of the ML minibuses were sold on to other operators.
This location on College Street is now the Trinity tram stop on the Luas Greeen Line. The building behind the 83 has been demolished but "The Irish Yeast Co." shop is still there. 19/08/1995
A trip back 23 years to route 230. RA 249 is seen at the 230 terminus in Dublin Airport. Behind it is .the road ramp down from the departures area of what is now Terminal 1, but back then was the only terminal in the airport. This terminus was the furthest from the main door of the arrivals area. The direct express bus to the city centre was the closest, followed by the routes such as the 16 or 41. Nowadays those last two routes go some distance away from the terminal building, on the other side of the multi-storey carpark. Where the 230 is in the photo is approximately the area where Aircoach goes from, a private operator that started around 1999.
Route 230 connected the airport with Portmarnock going via Swords and Malahide. It started in 1991 but in 2008 it was merged with the 102 and extended to Sutton. In 2018 this 102 was taken over by Go-Ahead Ireland.
RA 249 was delivered new to Dublin Bus in 1995. It remained with the company until around 2016, but spent those last 10 years or so as an open-top bus in the tour fleet.

Today a picture from the archive that I came across a few days ago. Taken in December 2019, but it feels like it was much longer ago.
Das Motto bei #TBT diese Woche lautet Städte (#Cities).

Kennt ihr schon die Flickr Commons? Diese Ansicht von Stockholm aus dem Jahr 1945 stammt vom Account des Swedish National Heritage Board.
I was going though some documents on and old laptop and found a few of these pics among them which I don't ever remember having but I remember this night as we had a small get together drinking champagne. Must have been a birthday or something on the night as it probably 12 years ago or there abouts.
Getting ready to hike in the Cascade Mountains with a 25 pound pack on my back. This little city girl could walk flat land but climbing up to 6000 feet was a feat I'll always remember. They made me carry the axe.
This photo was from my first account and I thought it would be a shame not to post it again. Love you all💕💕💋💋
This week we are going back twelve years to 2012 and to AX 484 on route 77X, passing through College Green.
Route 77X started in the mid-1990s as a CitySpeed route, running between Westbrook Lawns in Citywest, and the city centre (inbound in the morning and outbound in the evenings). From around 2001 some departures operated from Tallaght, others from Citywest, and the route was extended beyond the city centre to UCD Belfield. CitySpeed also became Xpresso around that time. In 2009 the route was reduced to one departure, operating in one direction only (from Citywest to UCD Belfield). The route remains the same today.
AX 484 was new to Dublin Bus in 2006. It was withdrawn in 2019 and sold on to another Irish operator.

This week we are going back twenty-five years to the year 2000, and to RV 567 parked on Hawkins Street while dressed for route 46A to Dun Laoghaire.
Route 46A started running between the city centre and Dun Laoghaire in 1936, having first reached Cabinteely in 1926 and Goatstown in 1933. In 2010 its city centre terminus was relocated to the Phoenix Park in 2010 when under Network Direct it replaced route 10 on the northside. The route ceased to operate in January 2025 when it was partially replaced by route E2 under Bus Connects.
RV 567 was new to Dublin Bus in 1999. It was withdrawn in October 2012 and sold on to an operator in the United Kingdom.

This week we are going back thirty-nine years to Christmas Day 1985, and to KD 82 parked at Skerries Station.
The bus is dressed for route 33. CIE took over operation of this route from the GNR(I) in 1958, and it is still operated by Dublin Bus to this day. The route connects the city centre with Skerries, going via Swords, Lusk and Rush. Certain departures are extended to / from Balbriggan, and it is the most northerly route in the Dublin city network. Buses are also still left overnight at the shed in Skerries.
KD 82 was new to Dublin Bus in June 1984. It was still in service with Dublin Bus in June 1996, but had been withdrawn by October 1997.

For this week's "Throwback Thursday" we are not going back too far in time, only to 2009. WV 19 is seen on New Wapping Street with a 53A from Eden Quay to Alexandra Road in Dublin Port. The bus is now gone and the route is now gone. 01/04/2009
I was sorting some old photos and found some that I had taken in the production area where I was employed as a graphic designer. Without all these machines and pieces of various equipment it would not matter that we upfront spent time to design a beautiful piece of art or that our sales staff worked hard to secure the account because without production and all the pieces of machinery we could not produce the final (book, magazine, brochure, poster, etc) that shipped to the public which enabled us to stay open for business. Yeah for machines . . .
Baltimore & Ohio torpedo-tube GP9 No. 6610 works a local job at historic Gettysburg PA on a hazy summer day in July 1985, late into the Chessie era.
A short hop back to 2012 this week for Throwback Thursday. AX 469 received an all-over ad for the then latest James Bond film Skyfall. All-over is probably a bit of a misnomer as only three-quarters of the bus is covered; the front remains in Dublin Bus livery. The film went on to be the highest grossing in the Bond series and won an Oscar for the song by Adele. The following film in the series, Spectre, was slightly less successful. The bus is on route 15A from Limekiln Avenue to Grand Canal Dock. Townsend Street 03/11/2012

For Throwback Thursday this week are going back to 1987 and Dublin Bus is just two months old. The new compnay had settled on a colour scheme in the form of adding an orange stripe to two-tone green CIE livery but the logo had not been settled yet. KC 200 is seen at Blackrock with the first attempt at a logo on the side of the bus. This bus is also in the DART Feeder livery and route 114 to Sandyford Industrial Estate was one of those routes.
The bus was also assigned the registration XZV 200 when delivered in 1986 but was registered with the new style number plate prior to entering service. 31/03/1987
This week for Throwback Thursday we are going back to 1999 and visiting a route that survived four months. on the 14th June route 61A commenced though it was more commonly known as "Hotel Link". It ran in a loop to/from Bus Aras and served Mount Street, Lansdowne Road, Leeson Street and Christchurch and was designed to connect the hotels with the City Centre. It was advertised as "A chauffeur driven Merc for £1" and the minibuses for the route were painted in a modified Airlink livery. Sadly it did not last and the route was withdrawn on the 17th October 1999.
The buses then transferred to a new bus route, 321, which commenced on the 6th December 1999 but this route only lasted until 1st April 2000.
Today Dublin Bus operate route 705 which is a hotel shuttle that operates in connection with the City Tour. ME 23 is seen at Bus Aras. 15/06/1999
On a cool winter afternoon in 2008, NS 119 passes through downtown Salisbury with a set of vintage EMD power made up of an NS SD60 and two leased EMDX SD40-2s. The passenger station on the left has since undergone a major renovation and the old freight house towards the back of the picture has been demolished as well. The EMD power has probably been either rebuilt or scrapped.
1 of 5 photos taken on New York Central's Egyptian Line at Sheff, Indiana in 1914 showing the completion of the watering facilities. In this photo, Thomas Boldman is seen sitting on his motorcar along with 3 other men. The man at left appears to be someone in charge while the other 2 men standing look like workers. It is likely that 1 or all of the other men are Boldmans as well. Wilmer Boldman most likely took these shots at Sheff as he seemed to be the photographer in the family.
The view appears to be looking west from an area south of the tower about 1/2 mile or so. The water tower was on the same side as the interlocking tower.

How they haven't reverted back to this styling, I'll never know. I get a big nostalgia rush just looking at these things, partially because they remind me of all the classic films they were used in like Home Alone and Ferris Bueller.
Not positive, but I think this was 1995. We were in high school. My dad was playing with lights and used us as models.
Twenty years ago today, a visit to the Springfield Amtrak station finds AMTK 247 laying over between Shuttle runs, sporting its one-of-a-kind white lettering. At this point, the New Haven power pool was among the last refuges of Amtrak's once-numerous F40PH fleet, as the last of P42s were still being delivered. Having already been displaced from the Shore Line by the recently-completed electrification project, the F40s would be gone from the Springfield Line as well within a year this photo, replaced by the 800-class P40DCs.
Following its retirement by Amtrak, the 247 eventually found its way to the former Bangor and Aroostook shops in Derby, ME, where it became an engine donor for a program to re-power M62 diesels in Poland.
I moved the cacti and some shelves off cinder blocks to give us a blank wall to work with. My photog friend said the light was too dim so we have a very cluttered b/g. But it's been giving gunge guys pleasure for almost 20 years now. I've heard it's on sites my friend can't even find the link too, mucky pups...gear something so I guess I'm pleased. Of course it's a vague sort of fame.
