This door has no threshold! (Most doors in the old style have ~6 inch tall thresholds across the bottom that you have to step over.) The story goes that the Last Emperor, being about 7 years old, liked to ride his bike down the alleyways and got tired of getting off to carry it over the thresholds, so he had them all removed.
