Freebie from Urban Threads (thank you!) "I'm So Retro" I made a zippered bag to hold all my various computer cords, chargers, etc. The back of the bag has a clear vinyl window so I can see inside of it.

Spools for thread spun from rayon made at the American Viscose (Avisco) facility in Marcus Hook, PA..
There has been no rayon manufacturing done in this facility since at least 1963 and probably prior, so the color retention of the rayon spindles still loaded is amazing.
Taken with a 10-20mm Sigma ultrawide angle lens.
Really interested? Want to own a piece of this history? I have an expensive but beautiful photo book you can see, and order here. If you buy it, don't use "photo correction" if asked. Tell them to leave the book alone!

we've worked with our thread supplier & the thread that sparkfun sells will now be much less prone to fraying! We're now selling the internally 4-stranded thread shown in the next couple of photos.

My sewing machine broke a while ago (it broke 3 times actually, the two last times within 15 minutes of receiving it from service). The online store I bought it at said it was OK to exchange it, but I wasn't really into buying another machine online after this.
Luckily my local sewing store took pity over me and allowed me to trade in my machine with them.
I was in today and picked out a Janome. It was cheaper than mine so I was allowed to pick out all these things to cover the cost. It was like Christmas!
I won't have to buy thread for a while.

For FGR magazine portraits.
Because i am living at my parents i have none of my stuff here so finding a magazine was hard, the only ones i could find were naturey ones. I was searching through and found an advert for a charity "international animal rescue". It depicts a picture of a bear with a rope threaded in through its nostril and out through an open gaping wound in the top of its head. I cried instantly upon seeing the image and decided to use it in todays pic to shame those who commit such crimes (In India they are forcing the bears to dance for tourists via this method).
I edited the rope so it looks like it continues downwards but the part coming from its nose is genuine.. and *ucking wrong.
If you can donate to the charity their phone line is 01825 767688.
* UPDATE * If i have offended anyone with my words then i apologise, the words 'dancing for tourists in India' came from the advert not from any self motivated racism of my own... i am not in the least bit racist.
My first amigurumi: a snail from Happy Berry Crochet’s pattern happyberrycrochet.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/crochet-micro-mi... on her blog.
Great fun, though clearly I have stuff to improve!
1) I’m not finding magic circles easy – I need to practise them.
2) I couldn’t use the 1.45mm hook US size 3 yarn combination recommend in the pattern; I’m not sure if the thread was just too large or I am just not yet skilled enough for a tiny needle. Rowan sienna 4 ply said US size 2-3 on the label but also recommended a 3mm hook, which is what I ended up using.
3) I found working the body tube very fiddly and I think I made mistakes there and added stitches. Whatever I did wrong it is much wider than it should be.
