I saw Chinese thread books online and fell in love. I was doing a zentangle project…and decided to combine the two. Origami and I are not the best of friends…yet…so I had to make SO many boxes to get what I wanted…and ended up with 3 books. The boxes open in different ways and are stacked on top of each other to hold thread, pattern pieces, small scissors, buttons…etc. SO much fun!

Followed these guys (Threads), around with my camera all day. Was meant to be helping them out by doing some filming but photos did a happen. Granted I did some filming but I was more interested in getting some shots. First ever photos i've done like this, i'd say I did ok considering!

I had to mend my messenger bag after the strap fell out (again). I hurt my finger pushing the needle through a ton of layers last time, so I used pliers this time.

Note the neon orange thread.

Another version of the Amusement Doily by the Celtess. For this one, I used some of Yarnplayer's hand dyed thread.

Size 2.5 mm hook and size 10 thread held double.

Ever since I was a little girl I liked to sew. Even before I started school I was attempting to make doll's clothes on my Mother's treadle sewing machine. When I left school I trained to be a Home Science teacher and I originally taught sewing and cooking and related fields. I made most of the clothes for myself and the children. Later my hobby was 'applique' which I was almost as obsessed with as I now am with photography. I designed and made tops for women which I sold through a local boutique. These shiny threads are a remnant of those days. Now I only sew when I have to. No time really!

I crocheted this from a vintage pattern given to me by Jill(jewelalchemy).

At over 20,000 pounds, this threader can form up to 8" of thread on 1" diameter bolts.

Designer: The Drawn Thread. This is the scan (which didn't quite fit into the scanner, as you see!) without the beads. The photo I took (which came out HORRIBLY), does have the beads on it. Stitched with silks (Vikki Clayton conversion) on Lakeside Linen Amethyst (32-Count).

At the top of Ben Arthur (the cobbler), after a small scramble doing what's known as "threading the needle" I capture this great picture of my friend mid air.

Added a threaded rod to the rear assembly to hold the handle in place. Also, the center pipe has been given ribs made with half round styrene

This is a Artprize entry in a building in Downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is made of Thread and canvas. I don't recall its title so I figured I'll just name it as I know what it is.

i crocheted these shawls out of quilting thread a couple of years ago and then never got around to blocking them or listing them till a customer asked about them recently, so i pulled them out to take pictures. i'd forgotten just how many i made! i'll be blocking them all this weekend and then listing them on etsy soon. if you are interested in any before that my email addy is in my profile.

Special thread? you ask. Nope.

Stripped the thread on my fixed hub. Cheap hubs so not entirely unexpected but annoying still. Cog was fine and flipped it over to the other side.

Ok, I admit it this is just a thread fest!

My Mom's colorful collection of embroidery thread.

Here, the threads get more separated, and the image starts to look a bit blurry. This image is huge - 6000px x 1000px. While it certainly showed the data that I wanted to show, I though it looked a bit plain and wanted to try something a bit different.

These images document progress in my latest attempt to visualize data from the NYTimes API. These images are chronological, and show the evolution of this small project as it progressed over the course of a day.

The train wires have always scared me a bit. I had this image of them being arms and coming to get me as a child. But now I love them. They're peaceful and steady, and they lead me to places I've never been to, in my favorite way of transportation: the train.

We are passionate about thread. Thread has become a specialized instrument for creativity and stitch express. It can play a supporting, technical role or be the star of the show. Check out the chart on page 9 of the book Threads – The Basics and Beyond.
