I used this tutorial after being inspired by this photo. The fabric came from my stash and it only took about 45 minutes.

Train 565 from Castlecliff threads its way past the ferry terminal into Wellington behind 'proper' power.
DC 4605 and DXB 5051, July 5 2016. A bit blurry because its .4 of a sec handheld.
Each one is carefully handsculpted to be unique. and you get a set of 5 plus a little heart pin cushion for only 5 bucks??? say whaaaat? that's right.
this dress was made 9 years ago for my youngest daughter ( who is in this picture) for her 1st birthday someone asked to see this so I am posting it now I also made the slip in this and the thread was a thrift store find to make the dress sorry I scanned this in and it looks like my scanner needs a cleaning

My son is a fly tier. Much of his bedroom is devoted to this pastime. Among his supplies are several dozen spools of thread in all shades of the rainbow.

A Union Pacific stack train threads through stark Palisade Canyon, Nevada, and crosses the Humbolt River on March 7, 2012. The vastness of this barren landscape through Palisade Canyon is better seen in this wider view, where the train really does look like a “thread” in the scenery.
Just lots of thread ... I was given most of them by a friend who knows I craft (she might not realize the depth of my obssession with it though!). Most of the spools came from either clearing out her late mother's house or her boyfriend's late father's. I like the idea of this things being passed on to someone who'll appreciate them, and mostly they'll get used for patchwork - which recycles fabrics and has such strong links to previous generations of women who've quilted.
