Cheers…

My, Dad, My Sister and I recently took a vacation to northwest U.S.A at the end of the summer. We listened to a book on tape called "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". It was very good and humorous, so we got the movie on Netflix afterward. Even if it didn't follow the book it was a very good movie. This was a Giant computer in the movie called "Deep Thought" who stated that the answer to life, the universe, and everything was 42. I made some fan art based on the computer.

I look old and tired :(

Pretty surprised at the quality of this close up from the old Rand...

Here is the same young lady who appeared in a previous photo named Peers as she continues to work on her drawing. As you can see, - alot of thought is being put into the process!

I love the background and the extra chair.

It's not just me, it's any student at my school who cares about their classes. Wish all of us lots of luck with these next 2 weeks... time to talk in front of my class now! :-)

Thought it was a honey bee at first (it's sad that I didn't really know what honey bees looked like) but probably a red mason bee. Bioblitz May 2014

So....I recently purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 and am finally sitting down to learn about it. I went out today and bought Scott Kelby's "Photoshope Elements 5 for Digital Photographers" and he has some great "recipes" for layers, correcting, etc. I am totally loving this book.

I feel like I am finally understanding how to use the program. My goal is to make the photo look like art - not like I "used Photoshop"...know what I mean? What's your honest opinion of this photo? Any suggestions on color, pattern, etc?

As I post this, winds of 35 mph are swirling the newly-fallen snow, and the temperature is hovering around 0 Fahrenheit. The house is creaking as it is buffeted by the wind. Winter has arrived – with a vengeance.

But cheer up, folks. This is only a short term condition. We may be in the dead of winter today, but the days are already growing longer, and spring will soon be here.

Thought I drive through Rio Vista before heading out to San Jose last weekend. You would think the wind turbines would catch my eye first, but snapped this tree instead.
