Smile, though your heart is aching

Smile, even though it's breaking

When there are clouds in the sky

You'll get by...

If you smile

Through your fear and sorrow

Smile and maybe tomorrow

You'll find that life is still worthwhile

If you just smile...

Though 'H' was at his dad's the weekend past, I was feeling a bit meh ....and a bit frozen so even though it would really do me no good I didn't go out Saturday bar Hero's little walks, the little shop down the road and a quick venture to the front garden for some macro.....By Sunday I was a right grumpy sod- so with warnings I'd be late back for 'H's drop off I went for my weekend walkies - sorry I meant I took Hero for his weekend walkies 😁

This image was taken in late April but the days were already starting to last longer. As people or as photographers, we often believe it is too late or that we have missed our chance to get a great image, and that the day is over. But oftentimes, our day could have only just started. This was a special day in that I thought I had already seen all I could for the day, however, even though I was very tired, I walked to another location and I was then pleasantly surprised with this beautiful misty view. All days can be special but certain days are rare and very unique and we can only hope to be open minded enough when that day comes to enjoy it and take every opportunity to make the most of it.

even though I have hundreds of pictures of flowers from Planting Fields Arboretum... I couldn't help taking some of my flowering plants!!

A beautiful day at Sidmouth yesterday, very cold though, a lot of people enjoying the sunshine.

Even though the moon was high and bright, it was a good night to observe the goings on in the sky. From left to right: Moon, aircraft, Venus (bright spot dropping behind hill), and International Space Station on far right. Upon analysis on the computer screen, frame by frame, I found that there were three other satellites visible also in that time frame (little over one hour). (Samyang 14mm)

Though I like the quote I can't comment on same - I am not a biker. My brother would agree; but then, he loves to "ride".

Shot of a biker "riding" in the rain on the Yellowhead Highway to Jasper, Alberta

Though not the last, it is still the remainig easily seen pictograph on a rock panel in San Diego County, California. There are a few ever so faint and a hint of many others. The protective lip of granite protected this one from sun and weather.

‘tis the best time though isn’t it ❤️ cosy, darker nights, pumpkin scented candles, fire pits glowing their embers after warming the colder nights….and the colours n the daylight, more golden warmth as we appreciate the last touches of the bygone summer heat (😂) well for me as it’s either too hot or too cold really 😁 the crisp of the leaves underfoot and oh my id forgotten how wonderfully more ish the earth with its fallen carpet from the canopy’s above….that smell 👌….I woke up the other morning and the grass was wet…it’s definitely happening….and this year when it all settles down again I’ve got Hero to accompany my Autumn Adventures from crisp colourful walks to cosy nights in…..he’s become quite the one for a groom, seems hooman H’s baby hairbrush feels the best ❤️

Even though it was very overcast today from the monsoons, the sun just peeked through as this Rufous male decided to turn my way. What a treat!

Though to be honest I wish it was hitting the other side!

Though I was in random mode the last couple of days, I realize that the last two posts have something in common. So I'm continuing that theme with this shot. I won't reveal it here, but I imagine my Flickr friends will probably have no problem figuring out what these shots have in common.

This is a Gould's Wild Turkey, found in Madera Canyon, southern Arizona.

Though this Barred Owl looks sort of glum, It had just lifted its head after a fairly long while staring down at the swampy area beneath the tree, no doubt hunting for voles.

... though which one I am at a loss to say.(Now ID'd as Ringlet - thank you Dave and Thierry)

This one was one of a number (10 or 12) flittering about in the moorland grasses at the edge of woodland at about 290m in the Peak District. Just managed this hurried shot before the darker underside of the folded wings was shown and into flight again.

April can be many things up here and even though most places are well into spring we often are not. Lake States train 11 has arrived at Trout Lake with 43 cars on April 3, 1987 and one member of the crew struggles to get a switch on the right so 715 and 2405 can start to work there set out while the Trout Lake MOW crew is on the left heading over to clean switches on that side of the yard. Shooting on snow with such a bright spring sun was truly a bit of a challenge and I should have went up an f-stop from normal but Lightroom fixed my error with a minimum of fuss. It's Thirty Thursday!

Half full, half empty........

Two shots, 1/200 & 0.4.

This defo isn't though. Full on talent.

though i can’t choose a favorite poem, i do have a favorite poet: mary oliver. the last line of her poem, “in blackwater woods,” has been on my mind and in my heart: “to live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go.”

[34:52, choose your favorite poem and try to represent a line of it visually]

Though there's gold up in the mountains,

precious pearls deep in the sea,

those treasures do not mean as much

as your friendship means, to me.

♫ The Troggs - Love Is All Around ♫

I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes

Well love is all around me, and so the feeling grows

It's written on the wind, it's everywhere I go

So if you really love me, come on and let it show

You know I love you, I always will

My mind's made up by the way that I feel

There's no beginning, there'll be no end

'Cause on my love you can depend

I see your face before me as I lay on my bed

I kinda get to thinking, of all the things you said

You gave your promise to me, and I gave mine to you

I need someone beside me in everything I do

You know I love you, I always will

My mind's made up by the way that I feel

There's no beginning, there'll be no end

'Cause on my love you can depend

It's written on the wind, it's everywhere I go

So if you really love me, come on and let it show

Come on and let it show

Come on and let it show

Come on and let it show

Come on and let it show

Come on and let it show

Even though I love all seasons, when January rolls around my mind wanders to blossoms and endless sunlight! We've had a few sunny days but mostly snow and lots of it....remembering to treasure the present moment while still dreaming of those blossoms! Enjoy the day!

A last peek at one of the hummingbirds as they have now all flown south. Courageous little beings to take on a journey that would discourage even some human travelers! They left the day after hurricane Ian blew through here with it's winds and rains. I miss seeing them, not so much cleaning those feeders every other day though! LOL

Though I don’t know why, Limpkins prey of mulloscs don’t move fast.

Though it's not a great pose, I liked that this shot showed off the yellow crown on this Yellow-rumped Warbler.

...at my own pace though never in one place.

Though Solitude is one of the most apt railroad location names I've been to I also felt the presence of the great photographers who'd come before to this remote location for this classic shot on the former Rio Grande. Fortunately Amtrak and sunny skies allowed me to create my own experience here on this virtual moonscape of Utah with the westbound California Zephyr (Amtrak 5). 3/27/16

Smile, though your heart is aching.

Smile, even though it's breaking.

Though there are clouds in the sky,

You get by...

If you smile through your fears and sorrows.

Smile and maybe tomorrow

You'll see the sun come shining through.

If you just light up your face with gladness,

Hide every trace of sadness.

Although a tear may be ever, ever so near.

That's the time you must keep on trying.

Smile, what's the use of crying?

You'll find life is worthwhile

If you'll just smile, come on and smile.

If you just smile.

Though they're starting to look a bit worn, they're still 4 axle standard cab GE's so not something you see very much any more. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.

2 Corinthians 10:3

Hornby Castle in North Lancashire is now more of a country house that was developed from a medieval castle. The Grade I-listed building overlooks the village of Hornby in the Lune Valley in the north of the county.

The castle originally dates from the 13th century but virtually nothing from that period is now left. The polygonal tower dates from the 16th century.

During the English Civil War the castle was captured and subsequently occupied in 1648 by the Duke of Hamilton and his Scottish army. The castle then changed hands a number of times over the subsequent years. Much of the structure was rebuilt between 1847 and 1850, though the older parts, including the polygonal tower, were retained. Further additions and alterations were made later in the 19th century.

Though I know that evening’s empire has returned into sand

Vanished from my hand

Left me blindly here to stand, but still not sleeping

My weariness amazes me, I’m branded on my feet

I have no one to meet

And the ancient empty street’s too dead for dreaming

Though I feel light headed, now I know I will not fall #306

Though these are very common further north we do not too often see them here. This one has been visiting the garden most days for about a week now.

Though leprechauns may not have hidden pots of gold at the end of rainbows, “rainbow cups” were once thought to bring luck and good health.

You may already know that there is no “end” of a rainbow — science tells us that their arch shape is simply an illusion. In reality, while those of us on the ground can only see the light reflected by raindrops above the horizon, viewers in aircraft can sometimes see a rainbow’s full, 360-degree circle.

But that doesn’t mean the myths surrounding the discoveries of Celtic gold are totally untrue.

Six years ago, volunteer archaeologist Wolfgang Herkt received permission to search a local farm in Brandenburg, a state in northeastern Germany. He was rewarded for his efforts with the unexpected discovery of 11 Celtic gold coins.

After he reported the cache to the Brandenburg State Heritage Management and Archaeological State Museum, renewed searching uncovered an additional 30 coins.

The coins are unusually shaped: Rather than appearing flat like those we use today, the newfound gold pieces are curved and almost resemble small cups.

Marjanko Pilekić, a numismatist and research assistant at the Coin Cabinet of the Schloss Friedenstein Gotha Foundation in Germany, dated the hoard to between 125 B.C. and 30 B.C., minted during the late Iron Age.

Later on — sometime between the Middle Ages and the 18th century by some estimates — coins of this type earned the nickname regenbogenschüsselchen, which translates to rainbow cups from German.

It’s a fitting name for bits of gold that were often stumbled upon in plowed fields after a particularly heavy rainfall; their concave shape may even have allowed rain to pool within them, reflecting the sunshine and making them easier to spot.

Popular belief held that rainbows, a common sight after a drizzle, left the coins behind wherever they touched the earth. They were even thought by some to bring good luck or good health.

Not sure when the “pot-of-gold” came into being. I guess it’s a lot cooler than the coins just sitting on the ground.

Though the first word of ICM is Intentional, I often find that the results, even if trying out the same old tried and true spasm or dance can be unintentional. For me this is the delight of exploration and discovery that makes up the practice of ICM.

A tree, amongst some other trees, all covered in snow. Quite liked how the little one at the front just seemed to be trying to stand out from the crowd though.

Though to be honest Mr. Osprey, I don't know that that's a legal size!

Though not quite what my father had in mind when I was still in the single digits and I would ask him for variations on that theme.

Though warthogs appear ferocious, they are basically grazers. They eat grasses and plants, and also use their snouts to dig or “root” for roots or bulbs. When startled or threatened, warthogs can be surprisingly fast, running at speeds of up to 30 miles an hour.

Warthogs are adaptable and are able to go long periods without water, as much as several months in the dry season.

When water is available, warthogs will seek it and often submerge to cool down. They will also wallow in mud for the same purpose—and to gain relief from insects. Birds also aid these hogs in their battle with insects; oxpeckers and other species sometimes ride along on their warthog hosts, feeding on the tiny creatures invading their hides.

Though you can't feel it, even the sight of beautiful sunshine or a warm glow makes you feel warm inside....

my Nanna used to just put the light on the fire to make it look and feel warm....I think I'll just print this image up to make me feel warm inside through the darker colder months ♥

Though the evil virus is hanging over all our shoulders, we can still enjoy a good staycation! :D

Keeping away from the crazies that think the virus is a hoax, or that their rights are more important than their responsibilities towards other people's health... I have NO issues avoiding hanging out with those. I've not studied epidemiology for 7+ years at Uni, so I'll just keep following the advice of those that have.
