Even though these birds mate for life, at the beginning of every breeding season; a courtship ritual will happen to strengthen the bond. This might manifest itself through preening (as shown in my photo), other forms or physical contact or offering “gifts” (usually sticks or stones) to each other.
As this shot was taken at the very beginning of their breeding season a few months ago, hopefully by now this couple has succeeded in raising one or multiple offspring.
My old friends, Though I have not spent time lately due to the pressures of life but I must do so as it is so rewarding especially a bird so skittish and difficult to photograph well.
Reduced in numbers over most of their range .
Though this is over a year ago, J783 can still be seen with SD40’s pretty common. Though this October morning was early and cold, great friends make this hobby awesome.

Though it looks like all the other pygmy-owls, the Cloud-forest Pygmy-Owl has a distinct double-note song and occurs only in a very narrow elevation range in western Colombia and Ecuador where it is quite rare. We were ecstatic to locate a bird just off the side of the road that cooperated for pictures. Montezuma Road, Tatamá National Park, Colombia
Though we found a number of colorful birds during our recent travels along the Texas coast, we also encountered our share of brown feathered feathered friends. Starting with yesterday's post of the clapper rail I'll present a few of these brunette birdies.
From the Audubon Field Guide: "From eastern Mexico to northern Colombia, this plain gray-brown thrush is very common in lowland habitats, including parks and gardens. In recent years it has become a regular visitor to southernmost Texas, especially in winter, and it has even nested there a number of times. It was formerly called Clay-colored Robin."
We saw a few of these thrushes during a previous visit to the Rio Grande Valley a few years ago but I didn't manage any decent shots. So I'm fairly pleased to get this one.
Though Lyme Hall itself is very grand, most visitors are drawn to the the hunting lodge known as The Cage, which dates from around 1580 and has stunning views for miles around

Though 'H' was at his dad's the weekend past, I was feeling a bit meh ....and a bit frozen so even though it would really do me no good I didn't go out Saturday bar Hero's little walks, the little shop down the road and a quick venture to the front garden for some macro.....By Sunday I was a right grumpy sod- so with warnings I'd be late back for 'H's drop off I went for my weekend walkies - sorry I meant I took Hero for his weekend walkies 😁
Even though you watch the petals shrink and change colour,

Our wild strawberries are toasting nicely, though sadly the one that was ripe last week didn't taste as sweet as they did last year.
We've now got 4 plants and there's a third berry beginning to grow on one of them.
Ohh, I've just noticed a 3rd and maybe a 4th hiding underneath the others. Goody.
However we have a strawberry thief in the garden, it's not snails, slugs or birds, so what is it?

It wasn't particularly hot yesterday, though we've had a warm spell of weather. But that's to be expected in a Tasmanian summer. This is the view of last night's sunset overlooking Launceston. In the plain below we can see the golden light reflected in the curve of the North Esk River. A circus tent sits waiting to pull in the crowds. And the city lies in the valley and the hills beyond.

Though not the last, it is still the remainig easily seen pictograph on a rock panel in San Diego County, California. There are a few ever so faint and a hint of many others. The protective lip of granite protected this one from sun and weather.
‘tis the best time though isn’t it ❤️ cosy, darker nights, pumpkin scented candles, fire pits glowing their embers after warming the colder nights….and the colours n the daylight, more golden warmth as we appreciate the last touches of the bygone summer heat (😂) well for me as it’s either too hot or too cold really 😁 the crisp of the leaves underfoot and oh my id forgotten how wonderfully more ish the earth with its fallen carpet from the canopy’s above….that smell 👌….I woke up the other morning and the grass was wet…it’s definitely happening….and this year when it all settles down again I’ve got Hero to accompany my Autumn Adventures from crisp colourful walks to cosy nights in…..he’s become quite the one for a groom, seems hooman H’s baby hairbrush feels the best ❤️

This Wasp was investigating the remains of a bird. It looked as though the bird had been taken by a raptor.
... though which one I am at a loss to say.(Now ID'd as Ringlet - thank you Dave and Thierry)
This one was one of a number (10 or 12) flittering about in the moorland grasses at the edge of woodland at about 290m in the Peak District. Just managed this hurried shot before the darker underside of the folded wings was shown and into flight again.
Though there's gold up in the mountains,

Even though I was standing far back, this owl has a turn-away from me incorporated at the outset of its takeoff here.
Though it's not a great pose, I liked that this shot showed off the yellow crown on this Yellow-rumped Warbler.

Though Solitude is one of the most apt railroad location names I've been to I also felt the presence of the great photographers who'd come before to this remote location for this classic shot on the former Rio Grande. Fortunately Amtrak and sunny skies allowed me to create my own experience here on this virtual moonscape of Utah with the westbound California Zephyr (Amtrak 5). 3/27/16

I got my Usagi doll in the mail yesterday and He's already all dressed for winter.
I love the simplicity of these dolls and see a lot of potential for customizing! I need a lot more time in the day. hahaha
The ears were a b*tch to get on though! I ended up dowsing the head with hot water to make the plastic more pliable. It was a little easier after that.

Though the first word of ICM is Intentional, I often find that the results, even if trying out the same old tried and true spasm or dance can be unintentional. For me this is the delight of exploration and discovery that makes up the practice of ICM.

my Nanna used to just put the light on the fire to make it look and feel warm....I think I'll just print this image up to make me feel warm inside through the darker colder months ♥
Though the evil virus is hanging over all our shoulders, we can still enjoy a good staycation! :D
Keeping away from the crazies that think the virus is a hoax, or that their rights are more important than their responsibilities towards other people's health... I have NO issues avoiding hanging out with those. I've not studied epidemiology for 7+ years at Uni, so I'll just keep following the advice of those that have.
