This was my Worldwide Moment for 9 September 2009.
It was a good day for rain, for snuggling under the covers, for enjoying the lull of leftover sleep. But the day awaits. With clouds in my coffee and a smile on my face, I went outside to enjoy this moment: quite perfect for playing tag with the wind, jumping on puddles, singing off-key to Frank Sinatra.
This path is part of the Hangers Way, from Alton to beyond Petersfield.

9130 Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests
East Hampshire Hangers represents Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests in south-east England. The site is extremely rich in terms of vascular plants, including white helleborine Cephalanthera damasonium, violet helleborine Epipactis purpurata, green-flowered helleborine E. phyllanthes and Italian lords-and-ladies Arum italicum. The woods include areas with old pollards on former wood-pasture as well as high forest. There are also transitions to 9180 Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines.

East Hampshire Hangers, with Rook Clift, represents an unusual occurrence of Tilio-Acerion forests in the south of England. It has areas of small-leaved lime Tilia cordata on the steepest parts of the Upper Greensand scarp, associated with low sandstone cliffs and scree slopes, which are locally calcareous. The bryophyte flora is richer than on the chalk examples and includes several species that are rare in the lowlands, such as Campylostelium saxicola, which has its strongest population in England here. The site is ecologically similar to sites selected in the Welsh Borders, despite its geographic location.

Kushiyama Renpou Yasuragi Promuna-do (Squewer Mountain Ridge Relaxing Promenad) is a 3km mountain path between a municipal children's playroom, Aio Community Centre Nikonikokan (Smile Hall, my video, Japanese HP) and a municipal hot spring resort, Aio Sou (Aio Villa? my video), with manificent views of the bays on either side of the peninusula accross the Seto Inland Sea. Our daughter is 5 years old and found no difficulty in walking the length of the path in about an hour. We left my bicycle at the play room, parked at the hot spring car park (which is also for the use of walkers) walked the ridge and then I went back to get the car by bicycle along the roads at the bottom of the mountains. The cycle up to the hot spring is steep, as are the steps up from the playroom to the ridge. Everything, except a dip in the hot spring baths which is 550 yen for adults and 300 yen for children (single sex nude bathing).

Someone should chop down the trees a bit more around some of the viewing platforms since one can only often see the bushes in the foreground.
