I have two Coopers Hawks that are hunting in my yard and they are here every day. This one is on my fence and he is watching a squirrel on the bird feeder.

One neat thing about that old Leica mount Nikkor-HC 50mm f2.0 I got the other day is the fact that it will focus closer than 3.5 feet. Most Leica lenses can't focus closer than that without adding weirdly named Leitz contraptions to the camera. This Nikkor focuses down to 1.5 feet, but you have to use a measuring tape, as the rangefinder won't work that close to the subject. Regarding this color... I usually pull any residual color out of my camera scans before posting, but this plum tone right off the rig seemed right for rotten fruit. Leotax T2 with Kentmere 100 devved in D76 stock solution. Scanned with a D-SLR on a Marron Carrel scan rig using a Tominon 75mm process lens, macro bellows, and an Omega color head as a light source. Post production with Darktable.

After Canadian National took over the Wisconsin Central, there were a frw years when varied consists were an everyday thing.
Nearing Aptakisic Road in Buffalo Grove, a short CN northbound had a trio of variety.
Trailing Wisconsin Central SD45 7502 was Duluth Winnepeg and Pacific SD40 5908 and a CN grey cinderblock SD40.
The consist was set up from best to worst.

Recently I took a trip down to the East Kootenai's to photograph trains on CP's Windermere and Cranbrook subdivisions. One thing that became apparent during my time down there is the surprisingly large amount of SD40s serving on trains between Golden and Trail BC. Once the backbone of the CPR's fleet now are scarce to see on this railroad with only around 30 or so being active and usually being relegated to work train service. That's why it was a surprise to me to see 5 different SD40's working these local freight jobs around the South interior of BC. Here we see the Northbound Golden Wayfreight train A18 highball thru Canal Flats with CP 5875 on the point and a sizable train for Golden.
One thing that I really love is the returning of the Swift at the start of May, The fastest bird in level flight at speeds just under 70 MPH and they very rarely come off the wing - Eating, Mating, sleeping and bathing on the move - This one has a Bolus of insects it is collecting for its young

Boyd, Oregon is is evident only by the road that bears its name. Boyd unincorporated in 1955, but was a stagecoach stop when such a thing was a going concern. This is what I have heard is called the Boyd Mill, which is along Fifteenmile Creek near The Dalles. Gaia and I came across it one Autumn evening near dusk. The cameras just had to come out.
