Good morning everyone. I thought I'd keep it simple today with just a single pic of a male Monarch (Danaus plexippus) nectaring on Joe Pye Weed. Around the time I took this (in late July) the numbers of Monarchs began to increase significantly. Presently I'm seeing more than I have the past two or three seasons, which can mean only one thing...a strong migration in terms of numbers beginning in the next month or so.

The second Cooper's Hawk was sitting on a branch closer to the bird feeder that the squirrel is eating from. I see these siblings every day and they hunt together. Maybe this one is injured. I noticed that one of his tallons is pointed inward.

So the funny thing is I chased a Logger Strike around the park for about 3 months trying to get a good shot. I chased him so much that it occured to be I was most likely stressing him out. So I decieded that I should just give up. A couple days ago when I was out trying to photograph Manatees, guess who came to see me.
Sometimes the camera picks up more than our eyes. I only noticed this tiny spider web filament attached to the water droplet in post editing...bonus.

There were some interesting clouds yesterday afternoon, so despite the piercing cold it was worth waiting for an hour or so to see if it was going to colour up. The best clouds were before the pinks arrived. Crazy little Thing is a Captain Beefheart favourite. I love these skies with different types and layers of clouds. It's a grey day today so I should probably think of doing some artwork.
