I’ve used this title and song before but this is a different YouTube video to go with it, it by itself seems fitting for the times we're in.

These birds are on the northern edge of their abnormal breeding grounds, but abnormal or not, they are here and this juvenile has shown up in the past few days, no doubt having been forced to go out on its own of late. Last night, two of these birds were calling quite prolifically around 10 to 11 PM. They are 'night herons' and feed mostly at night. They have big eyes to accomodate night vision and as they primarily eat crustaceans, i.e. crabs, their bills are short and stout, compared to fishing herons, as this bill is for crushing shells. This is three years running now we've had juveniles appearing around this time in this very same location. So they must like it here. This bird was out early and lurking in the shadows, quite shy.

These flowers bloomed yesterday. Shot with my Yashica wide open.

f/1.4 the metadata is wrong.

These are all over the place now, rather small, and kind of photogenic.

These precious pauses, where we consciously choose to enjoy the moment, are not luxuries but necessities, helping us to live more fully, appreciate our surroundings, create lasting memories, and connect with others in a shared appreciation of the now

These are going to be the death of me. So scary cute and collectible! I can see myself scoring doubles triples of these in the future. Ugh. Loves it! #MHSpiritSquad

Jay Jay Jay! Also a bully around any seed pile, these are wonderful birds, common and yet stunning.

These seem different than the last one I found on a Doug fir cone. That one was glowing white. My days of including a sunny Bokeh are about over for the season, rainy days.

These unusual mushrooms were growing near a firepit at Cape Perpetua in Oregon. Since they were the only funghi of this kind in the campground, I think someone dropped something and the heat from the fire encouraged them to grow. I'm not an expert and would love an identification.

Thanks for your visit, comments, awards, faves and invitations.

My heart goes out to the millions affected by Hurricane Sandy.

These were just beginning to turn.

Little Mulberry Park in Gwinnett, a real hidden gem! Plenty of beauty. Plenty of walking trails, none steep. Plenty of grass and a beautiful small lake. This is what can happen, when a concerned farm owner deeds land to the County, instead of selling it for commercial purposes.

Anyone living fairly close, I have it mapped exactly where it is. Very easy accessible from GA Hwy 316. Just take Fence Road, north, off 316..........

Waiting on you!

These purple finches act like avian acrobats as they dangle from flimsy branches while feeding on the remaining crabapples. Notice how purple finches pick the crabapples apart while the fruits are still attached to the tree. Robins and cedar waxwings pick the crabapples off the tree and swallow them whole.

These birdies have very muddy feet and matching muddy beaks. They are feeding in a flooded field in the Baskett Slough NWR in NW Oregon. The are feeding primarily on Night Crawlers in the mud, but I also saw them eat a few small frogs.

These mesmerizing eyes not only give cats their keen vision but also an air of mystery and elegance that has fascinated humans for centuries.

These tiny Fiat 500s (approx 12 of them and each a different colour) were perched along the median strip in the middle of Lygon Street for The Italian Auto Icons Display . . . of course I would choose a red one!

These leaves, have turned their Winter Red.

These iconic symbols of a simpler time are easily found here in Colorado.

These two flowers caught my lens's attention so my lens asked me to snap this image & I obliged!

These adult and juvenile Red-Tailed hawks were seen over Lime Ridge Open Space in Walnut Creek, California.

This is a composite of two photos from the same time period, because I couldn't otherwise get both birds in focus. The hawks were flying in close proximity and were probably from the same family.

Wisconsin & Southern's Janesville bound freight, eases around the curve in Milton's yard limits on a beautiful autumn afternoon. This was the last time these trees were this vibrant with autumn's color and I'm hopeful one day they will be again, in this changing climate we live in.

These beautiful cloisters lead to one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe – which is still serving the public more than 700 years after it was founded. It’s part of the Franciscan monastery in Dubrovnik’s Old Town, in Croatia.

It was founded in 1317 as an in-house pharmacy for the Franciscan friars, but was later expanded to embrace all Dubrovnik’s townspeople.

Today the peaceful cloisters, and the courtyard they surround, are a welcome release from the tourist trail. And, extraordinarily, the pharmacy is still a going concern, offering products and remedies which are made according to ancient Franciscan recipes. Not least among the temptations on offer are skin creams made from local wild herbs.

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

These lakes are reclaimed gravel pits, emptied about 30 years ago. They filled with water over a winter and were then stocked with fish. Hardly any litter to be seen and a very quiet, calm and reflective place, only 0.5 miles from where we live.

Designed for swarms of school children to await the bus. At the science museum.

These columns, located adjacent to the Eiffel Tower in a park called Parc de Champs de Mars, were covered in words of peace in various languages of the world. However, it seems they've since been removed from when this image was taken.

These beautiful trees are on a 50-foot bank overlooking Lake Michigan, which you see shimmering in the background, and with sky above.

Happy 53rd Earth Day, everyone!

May we all love and respect this wonderful planet that we live on!!!
