The Domino Theory
17 March 2014 -- 76/365
Barrington, Rhode Island
I went to Haines Park in Barrington for today's photo, and spotted this cyclist heading down the bike path while on my way there. Given that he had a shorter distance to travel, I guessed (correctly) that we'd arrive pretty close to the same time. He did throw me a bit of a curve-ball by cutting off the path and onto the park's access road, but that setup the opportunity to include these interesting posts in the foreground. I like the way the first post is leaning, making it look like a series of dominoes that are about to go cascading to the ground.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and boost black. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
Cam Banks said ""Step on Up," "Story Now," and "Right to Dream" sound less like game theories than they do tween-friendly movies on Nick or Disney." So I made these posters.

90 Mile beach and area
The name Ninety Mile Beach is a misnomer because it is actually 55 miles (88 km) long.[1] Several theories have been advanced for the name, the most common stemming from the days when missionaries travelled on horse back when on average a horse could travel 30 miles (50 km) in a day before needing to be rested. The beach took three days to travel therefore earning its name, but the missionaries did not take into account the slower pace of the horses walking in the sand, thus thinking they had travelled 90 miles (140 km) - 07 October 2013

Day one hundred ninety/365. Some people are most at home in the world of thought. They'll do what is necessary with their hands, but theory provides more comfort.
Others would prefer not to read the directions. They lean toward action, perhaps guided by an idea.
Aren't you glad that both types of people are available?
