A flower that cannot be donated, because it dies as soon as it is cut, a wild flower. Wildflowers die earlier and more often than others, but theirs is a mysterious force beyond their beauty.

Created for and inspired by Donna/♥DonnazMagicalPix♥ in appreciation for her dedication and quite behind the scenes assistance admining "The Hypothetical Awards and associated groups"

Behind the scenes quietly and conscientiously Donna has for many years been a wonderful help for us (at Hypo and Co).

How she also manages to find the time to run her own groups and help others admin theirs and also produce magical and inspirational creations is beyond my comprehension.

Thank you so much Donna .. you help epitomise the true spirit of flickr...!

May the magic touch you-♥DonnazMagicalPix♥

I've taken many pictures of this homestead over the years because I find it very scenic. I was a little disappointed this year because there are very few wild flowers. Our rains didn't come early enough so the entire region here has very few wild flowers. I drove through the mountains to this location to check out wild flowers in particular and there just wasn't hardly any. Guess I will have go to Colorado soon to see if they have theirs. First picture with my new GPS attachment - I like it very much :) When you post your picture to Flickr, it automatically posts the exact location to their map whereas I used to have to do it manually :)

Costa Rica offers so much in animal and wildlife that it is impossible to see and capture it all. The red and blue macaws were awesome to see as they flew the skies freely catching the wind currents and beautiful fauna that was theirs to enjoy !!! Their vibrant color is just breathtaking to see in flight and an experience one can never forget.

Wishing you a beautiful and blessed Sunday afternoon !!

Early morning at the Mormon barn. There were just three other people there when I was shooting so I knew the other vehicle had to be theirs. It was a truck with a logo for Antelope Canyons on it. I noticed these gentlemen were Native Americans so I struck up a conversation with them as I LOVE Antelope Canyon. They had a U-Haul van attached to their truck. Turned out they were on their way to Standing Rock to deliver a load of donations. I was so excited as I really believe in their cause. Had a nice visit and prayers that this situation will come out right. They are standing up for all our rights to clean water and sacred land.

THANKS

Sometimes all you want to do is reach out. For a hand, for a heart.

Sometimes all that you are is a fearful being, a scared soul, a tired mind.

Yet, through the pouring rain, under thick dark clouds, you let your fingers blindly, tentatively, explore the fingers of a special someone, hoping to feel your entire hand being engulfed in theirs and held so tight. A silent promise of never letting go, no matter what.

Mille mercis à toi ma merveilleuse Valentine, pour absolument tout ♥

Life is busy for me right now, but I’m trying to find a little time for creativity with photography and Flickr. I’m turning off comments as I’m so behind in acknowledging them and, even more importantly, viewing other people’s images and commenting on theirs, which I like to do. Thanks for viewing and thanks always for the support

So hippo love is so yesterday (sorry Becky). Alpacas are my new crush. Who couldn’t love a smile like that!

Just before Christmas found a local place where you can “breakfast with the Alpacas” You feed them theirs, and the sheep and cows, then you eat your own while they wander around eyeing off your bacon and egg roll. These guys aren’t farmed for milk or fleece, they are just pets. All 80 of them! including the llamas. The only way I can tell them apart is their ears, Llamas kinda stick up more and are hairier. Anyway , they kindly let me lay down in their field with them where I was able to get some of their portraits. Such happy looking animals, loved them. Elvis , the second in charge honcho, laid down next to me and chatted , in his own quiet Alpaca way, for quite some time while I was talking the pics. After popping his head under my cap and looking directly into my eyes , without spitting at me, we became good buddies. It was a really cool moment actually. Apologies in advance if there is some smiling Alpaca/Llama spam in coming months

Cheers

We took in my girl Molly when two other homes couldn't look after her properly. It just boggles my mind that she was given up twice as she has been such a paw-some addition to my family these last six years she has been with us. She is getting up there in age and I know her time and years are limited but I will continue to enjoy her and love her as much as she deserves, and more!

My daughter got this little sign shortly after Molly joined our family and I thought it would work well with the "Smile on Saturday" theme: Words.

IF...

By Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same:.

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings,

And never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much:

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And - which is more - you'll be a Man!

I don't know what made me chose these particular words the evening before the world woke up to the hideous assault being perpetrated on the Ukraine.

But words can be potent - guns and missiles only bring blood and death - words are what we, who don't bear arms, have as our weapons.

Words of unity, of love, of support. Words matter.

I hope, with all my heart - that the people of Ukraine will triumph in their fight. My tears are theirs.

Every spring I'm happy to see the hepatica blooming in my garden. From the distance its a quite unremarkable plant. Between all this green and brown you often see only some blue dots on the ground, because theirs blossoms have not more then two centimeters in diameter. From close up you can see how filigree these blossoms are. Little blue pieces of art made by nature.

While we're visiting Kangaroo Island, we must get away to Seal Bay where Long-nosed Fur Seals lay all over the beach, and in the sand dunes. We must go with a National Park Ranger who has all the answers, but is really there to make sure we stay a safe distance from the seals. They may look harmless, but he says they're very territorial and will defend their space.

The shores of Kangaroo Island are now home to a population of almost 100,000 Fur Seals, so there are plenty to see on the beach, and boundless photo opportunities. Actually, we hear and smell them before we see them; they have a strong fishy smell that carries on the breeze.

These fascinating creatures can range in size up to 250kg and 2m in length. They can dive to depths of up to 380m, which is the deepest of all fur seals. Theirs is a sea food diet and they are accomplished swimmers.

Isolated groups of survivors emerge from the shadows to take back the world that was once theirs...

BLOOD OF EDEN – PETER GABRIEL & SINEAD O'CONNOR

... And when you left the fields of yellow

faded in the winds of time

the golden ears of corn bowed down

finally beyond all reason or rhyme

But now my heart has risen up

the fields are red adorned with flowers

the bluest mountains reach towards the heavens

the promise of Spring is surely ours

I thought there would never be anyone else

to replace you in my field of dreams

but gentle words flow like a river

and settle within me or so it seems

I want to believe in the everafter

when our souls will meet again

but for now I must seek the quantum of solace

in the absence of the gentlest rain

The silent tears roll down the years

and bathe me in a rosy glow

the sunshine warms me; holds me closely

I feel immense that all I know

Is carefully parcelled; tied with ribbon

red velvet bow soft to the touch

a secret gift to be opened slowly

unwrapped; unveiled and loved so much

Inspiration is my succour

that piques my salient desires

I know that you will understand me

be happy someone tends these fires

the burning embers that you left me

now ashes crumble in the dirt

dust is dust that once was earthbound

in Heaven there is no more hurt

My heart sings out the freedom of nature

like a bird on the wing I soar so high

above the mountains through the clouds

swooping towards an open sky

I reach the stars just as the night falls

and cloaks the earth in silent reverie

sweet dreams my love; I know you're smiling

your generosity sets me free

Love is freedom to be ourselves

no matter what direction we take

the ones who love us are happy for us

and theirs is the love we do not forsake

Be still my beating heart; be silent

only when the end is nigh

for I am alive and my joie de vie

my joy of life cannot be denied ...

Black Redstart (male)

This is an image of a 2nd calander year male nearing completion of moult. When he bred his plumage was pretty much identical with that of the female. In Manchester I have observed two pairs of Black Redstarts and each of them have had two broods. There have been no previous recordings of double brooding here. There has been another first here in Manchester concerning these birds but I will leave that for another post. This image is made with my newly acquired 5D MKIV which I am loving. My old 7D Mkii has become difficult to operate but served me well. I have ordered an R7 which I ordered from the get go but sadly whilst others appear to have got theirs, I am still waiting:-(

It is an uncommon bird and very difficult to find. They spend theirs days motionless perched on branches where their camouflage is perfect.

Despite only spending a small amount of time with it because of a nearby jaguar. It really was amazing spotting and photographing this spectacular and beautiful bird.

I think I got lucky as this one opened its eyes for a few seconds.

This hill was the center of a Native American village. Now it's a farm field. Artifacts, clamshell piles, and burial sites can be found in the forest around this area. It is just a short walk from my backdoor.

A pair of sandhill cranes has claimed the field as theirs. The burr oak tree died a few years ago, and an osprey often sits on the top branches. Just over the hill, its mate sits on the nest.

Image and haiku by John Henry Gremmer

All of the gravestones face east toward Jerusalem, where the resurrection of the dead with the return of the Messiah is expected to take place. Because the gravestones were engraved by Christian stonemasons according to templates, many of the writings have errors or the letters are not fully written or oddly placed. Stonemasons were expensive, which means that there are many graves without a headstone, either because theirs were of wood and have withered away by now or they never had one to begin with since Jewish people in rural areas were often very poor.

In the 19th century, the Jewish population in Wenkheim was recorded as:

1825 105 (14,0 % of 752)

1875 160 (17,2 % of 930)

1880 181 (around 20 % of the population)

1900 92 (11,7 % of 786).

In 1925, there were 80 Jewish people, about 8% of 1000 Wenkheim residents and in 1933, there were only 46.

The last burial took place in 1938, two years before the Nazis committed genocide on the Jewish people. During Crystal Night, SA (Storm Troopers, nick: Brownshirts) from Tauberbischofsheim and Großrinderfeld plundered and destroyed the interior of the Synagogue in Wenkheim. Their leader wanted to burn the building, but the Wenkheim residents changed his mind by claiming that the surrounding houses would catch fire as well. His attempts at blowing it up failed, why and how had not been recorded. Since it is Hebrew tradition to bury defiled and disgraced prayer books and Torah scrolls, the principal of the Jewish community, Jakob Schuster, with the permission of the Mayor of Wenkheim, Oswald Thoma, buried whatever had remained from the Synagogue. Unfortunately, the SA found out, unearthed and burned the books and scrolls.

By 1940, most of the Jewish people were able to flee of which 22 went to the USA and eight to Palestine. The last 11 were deported to Gurs on 22. October 1940, a concentration/internment camp in France.

This cereus cactus was a gift from a neighbor that did not want it but did not want to throw it away. It blooms during the summer months at night only. When the sun begins to rise the flower begins to fall.

When it first arrived I placed it in the direct sunshine because it has cactus in the name. That was a big mistake, I nearly killed it. Then it was moved to part shade and was much happier as it recovered from the sunburn. Still, it was not thriving at all.

As the seasons change and the sun takes a different path, I found it was once again in the direct sun. Each time I noticed it was getting too much sun, I would find it a new location. I began to wonder how on earth I was going to keep this plant alive.

Finally it dawned on me, orchid cove would be the place for this beauty. Orchid cove is the name I have given to a shady nook in the front yard. There are orchids in pots and in the robellini palm tree growing in that nook. This crazy looking cactus now resides there full time hanging on a shepherd's hook. It seems rather happy and is never touched by the direct sun. It also gets a little spray of water when the orchids get theirs.

Have a Fabulous Friday and happy snapping.

Separate but together....

I got to do a fun collab with Lilt the other day, and here is my take on it! Pretty sure theirs is gonna turn out like way more fantastic, though.

Either way, you can check out some of the old and new Aii gacha sets, including the most recent one she's showing off available now at Fantasy Gacha Carnival!

Taken over at District 18!

Also! Definitely check out Lilt's version right here! She might think I'm cooler than I am. I told you it was bound to happen. Heeeeeeh.<3

These hearts were woven of human joys and cares,

Washed marvellously with sorrow, swift to mirth.

The years had given them kindness. Dawn was theirs,

And sunset, and the colours of the earth.

These had seen movement, and heard music; known

Slumber and waking; loved; gone proudly friended;

Felt the quick stir of wonder; sat alone;

Touched flowers and furs and cheeks. All this is ended.

A great gig last night by the Saw Doctors in Cardiff, so the title had to be one of theirs. To win just once, was one of the few songs that seemed Ok for this sunset shot of Nash Point. I always hope to get a few winners, but just being there is enough, a bit like experiencing live music.

Real skippers don't use a motor to maneuver theirs ship. This old cargo ship sails at full speed into the harbour of Stavoren (Netherlands) and the skipper knows exactly when the sails must be lowered to come to a halt in time.

When You lost Your path and you find Yourself trapped in the thicket, hold on to Your faith and keep watching out for light. Every forest has its end somewhere. Even Haensel und Gretel found theirs way out of the woodlands.

Just over this sand dune is the Atlantic Ocean

Assateague's wild horses are well known, even to many people who have never been to the island. The "wild" horses on Assateague are actually feral animals, meaning that they are descendants of domestic animals that have reverted to a wild state. Horses tough enough to survive the scorching heat, abundant mosquitoes, stormy weather and poor quality food found on this remote, windswept barrier island have formed a unique wild horse society. Enjoy their beauty from a distance, and you can help make sure these extraordinary wild horses will continue to thrive on Assateague Island.

Local folklore describes the Assateague horses as survivors of a shipwreck off the Virginia coast. While this dramatic tale of struggle and survival is popular, there are no records yet that confirm it. The most plausible explanation is that they are the descendants of horses that were brought to barrier islands like Assateague in the late 17th century by mainland owners to avoid fencing laws and taxation of livestock.

The horses are split into two main herds, one on the Virginia side and one on the Maryland side of Assateague. They are separated by a fence at the Virginia/Maryland State line. These herds have divided themselves into bands of two to twelve animals and each band occupies a home range. The National Park Service manages the Maryland herd. The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company owns and manages the Virginia herd, which is allowed to graze on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, through a special use permit issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The permit restricts the size of the herd to approximately 150 adult animals in order to protect the other natural resources of the wildlife refuge. It is the Virginia herd which is often referred to as the "Chincoteague" ponies.

Assateague's horses are beautiful, tough, and wild. They have learned to survive in a harsh environment. Feeding and/or petting them is detrimental to both visitors and horses. Horses can get sick from human food. Those that learn to come up to the road to beg for food are often hit and killed by cars. Visitors are kicked, bitten and knocked down every year as a direct result of getting too close to the wild horses. Treating wild horses like tame animals takes away the wildness that makes them special. Protect your family by respecting theirs. Give the horses the space they need to be wild.

There are few places in the United States where you can view wild horses. Due to their complex social structure the Assateague horses display a wide range of unique behaviors. Take advantage of the opportunity to view these horses in a natural habitat. With careful management, the wild horses will continue to thrive on Assateague Island and provide enjoyment to thousands of nature enthusiasts, photographers, and people who just love horses!

A Plymouth Satellite for 1968. A very nice looking car with clean lines, and this was a great example of one!

The Plymouth Name Game. Back in the mid forties they had a DeLuxe, but they all did, even if they weren't so deluxe, but Plymouth had theirs. And then came a bunch that could have easily been hotel chains. The Cambridge, The Concord, The Cranbrook, The Belvedere, The Plaza, The Savoy! And then several odd names, The Cricket, The Duster, The Barracuda, The Colt, The Neon, The Roadrunner and we can't forget The Volare. (and we heard that song by Domenico Modugno a million times back then) And in the mix of all that hubbub there was the hot one, a Fury, a true asphalt burner, often with a multi carb'd hemi under the bonnet. And alas, comes The Satellite which basically launched them into space, and to never be seen, nor heard of again! (and I know I left out a few)

The bluebirds are very territorial and are fierce to protect what they think is theirs . An intruder had com e into the snag and the male bluebird was quick to chase him off !! The bluebirds are small but big defenders !!
