Back with more Spiders and their little world, this time I used the Tamron 70-30mm lens which was a cheap bargain at 90 quid and thanks to my girlfriend who bought it for me, it had the better Macro setting than the usual kit lens. It does kinda give the impression this is either SL or Photoshopped, I assure you it's neither of those things. This female Bridge Orb Weaver was quite high up so my usual 18-55mm couldn't reach and so going in with the longer range helped. This year these guys are much bigger but few of them, in Germany we've had some heavy storms and flash flooding which has washed a good few of these poor guys away. However, that said I got some good shots I am going to post over the new few weeks.
I hope everyone's week us off to a great start, love to all and so as always, thank you! :)

Don't look into their eyes. You will start to see double!
I struggled to get any contrast and clarity in my shots as the cloud kept thickening around us, but just to get so close to so many of these goats was a bonus. Whilst Gary went for the more singular shots, to great effect, I having met the goats many times but not in these numbers, was more set on capturing as great a concentration of horns as possible.
Oh! I have a story developing in my head. It will be called "Blackbeard and the Pirate goats". Back after this flickr break.

Portage, WI serves as the halfway mark between Pig’s Eye in St. Paul and Bensenville, right by O’Hare in Chicago. Almost every CP train that passes through changes crews somewhere in town here, and this town is railroad-centric in almost every way, seeing as there’s nothing else to do. If it weren’t for the railroad, the town would have literally nothing; not even the grain silos behind the signal are active.
The ballast train finally arrives back at home base, where the power will get plucked and the train will sit for the evening. While some KCS SD70MACs would take the train westward, there weren’t any in town at the time, leaving one of the Dash 9s in the foreground and a hidden CSX GEVO to take it instead.

Two vendors trying to sell their pumpkins for Halloween. 🎃
He💀-"I told you that no one was going to buy them. Children are afraid of us."
She💀-"But I put on my best clothes. Wait ... someone's coming."
Few minutes later ... another buyer left and they didn't sell the pumpkins! Disappointment again ...oh no!
Anyone want pumpkins? 🎃 Happy Shocktober!

I see Western Kingbirds far less often than their close relatives, the Eastern species, so I was happy to find a pair nesting in my neighbourhood this spring. One morning in late June I spent some time watching them catch flies on my neighbour's property, and one obliged me by resting for a few minutes on a low branch, allowing me to shoot a dozen or more frames.
This is the first of three shots of neighbourhood birds. The next two will be from my backyard. I am already feeling nostalgic for them, as the southbound migration has begun: we are losing species every week. No more nighthawks. Blackbirds are flocking. Shorebirds are on the move. Next month the small passerines will be passing through - warbler, sparrows, vireos. Stay tuned...

Ship graveyard in Bangladesh
One of the most polluted places on earth is considered the “ship graveyard” in Bangladesh. Every year, more than two hundred ships find their last refuge here and provide jobs for local residents. All decommissioned ships understand to the last screw. This is done in appalling conditions and for a ridiculous reward, but due to the lack of alternatives, people agree to such work.
Stonechats are robin sized birds. Males have striking black heads with white around the side of their neck, orange-red breasts and a mottled brown back. Females lack the male's black head, but have brown backs and an orange tinge to their chests. Birds are frequently seen flicking their wings while perched, often doing so on the tops of low bushes. As its name suggests, birds utter a sharp loud call that sound like two stones being tapped together. They breed in western and southern parts of the UK, but disperse more widely in winter.

O the wild charge they made!
All the world wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Typically restricted to rocky shores, black guillemots utilize the cliffs, crevices and boulders for their nests, hunting the inshore waters for benthic prey. Compared to other auks they forage fairly close to the colony, in the breeding season mostly in inshore waters more than 50m in depth, farther afield in the winter months.
They dive for food from the surface, swimming underwater. They mainly eat fish and crustaceans, also some mollusks, insects and plant material.
The crocuses in our local park are looking great right now, these were just catching the afternoon sun on Saturday. Behind them the horse-box cafe providing lovely hot drinks and cookies.

The message from these Wood Ducks is clear: beware of invading any ice-covered island! Kidding aside, I was happy to get them both in the same plane of focus. On the partially frozen Pool, Central Park, New York.
Despite their earlier disagreement at Patti's All Day Breakfast Café the male White Throated Sparrow and the female Cardinal remain tentative friends. The rumors that it was grain-alcohol related have proven to be false. My sources tell me that it was a disagreement about future housing rights in a certain location. Things are Very Complicated in the bird world I can tell you that! ;)

Georgian folk dances impress with their brightness, incredible fire, sumptuous costumes and the interweaving of history with art. They give incredibly great pleasure to both the audience and the dancers themselves. No one has remained indifferent after such a spectacle! Today we offer you to get acquainted with the most famous Georgian folk dances and learn a little about their history:
Georgian National Dances: General information
The exact date of the origin of Georgian national dances is not known. However, it is supposed that the Georgian dancing folk was mentioned for the first time before our era.
In different parts of the country during many years were appearing unique dancing movements which have passed from generation to generation. And you will note that the dances of mountainous region inhabitants are characterized by sharp and rapid movements while the dance movements of plain inhabitants are smooth. Each Georgian national dance requires special costumes which resemble the clothes of inhabitants of different regions.

Their name is a reference to their long, thin legs, which are ideal for wading in shallow waters while foraging for food.

A foggy night at the Christian Science Center Plaza. Looking toward the reflecting pool, Mother Church, and the trio of Brutalist buildings that ring the reflecting pool: the Colonnade Building, Reflection Hall, and the towering 177 Huntington, the former CSC Administration Building-- all designed in the early 1970s by Araldo Cossutta of I. M. Pei & Associates. Back Bay, Boston.
I can hardly believe how fast these chicks have grown. Their nearly as large as the dad already. I see them practicing flapping their wings after dad leaves. When I first arrived yesterday, I thought that was the mother, though I've never seen her at the nest since the chicks hatched. She watches from a distance.

A male mountain bluebird has brought a food offering, in this case a spider, to his female mate. The male will do this a few times, and it generally leads to a mating scenario. And that did happen a bit later in the morning.

This Saturday morning, my wife and I took the opportunity to visit again the Liquidambar trees, which were splendid, in their best moment of Autumn color.
As it had been raining all the night before, and it seemed that it was going to rain again, the park was practically empty, which we appreciated a lot to be able to breathe calmly, not hear noises and be able to take the photos in complete peace.
The Liquidambar leaves were more vibrant than ever after the early morning rain. We loved seeing them.
I hope you like the photo. I take this opportunity to wish you a happy last weekend in October.

One early morning, I was watching some lion cubs playing with each other, climbing trees and having all kinds of adventures! This was so special to me because the day before two male lions came into the area and these cubs and their mothers had to go into hiding! I was so excited to see them the next morning alive and well and playful as can be! this photo was taken in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy in Kenya, Africa!
