J'ai besoin de couleurs, j'ai besoin de chaleur, j'ai besoin de lumière, j'ai besoin de soleil, j'ai besoin de senteurs. L'été me manque, il nous manque tous en Europe!
Continuing the snow theme with yet another The Thing-inspired mood piece. I think maybe the forced perspective outpost is still a little large and/or still a bit too close to the groomer.
Ideally I wanted to have a mysterious figure cutting the fuel lines on the vehicle but just trying to get the existing elements to sit together in the frame was tricky enough. I found that, from a certain angle, the groomer looked quite menacing, so that was the overall goal with this pic.
One of my favorite sifi horrors is "Thing" an im surprised that it took me this long to make a fig of he btw the design is based off jerdfigs fig link is here -> flic.kr/p/HmYWsB .Also I have one more fig from the movie coming tomorrow

Today marks the 98th birthday. If you don't know who Jack Kirby is, change that. He's the reason comic books exist as they do today. He designed most of the marvel universe from scratch, and went on to DC to create some of their most outstanding work. He'll always be remembered by his incredible creativity and outstanding art style. Rest in peace, Jack.
The Thing, like the rest of us pretends he's not bothered that he ran for the train but missed it.....there be another along in a minute...

View towards the north from the main pass on the Theth-Valbona trail (visible on the left), in the mountains of northern Albania (Alps of Albania National Park), close to the border with Montenegro.
Jezercës (3rd main summit from left) is the highest peak of the Dinaric Alps, the 645km-long mountain range that extends along the Adriatic Sea all the way to Slovenia, within the subrange called "Accursed Mountains" (a.k.a. Prokletije). Remnant glaciers can be found on its north face (not visible here) that are the 2nd southernmost glaciers in Europe, existing well below the theoretical snowline because of the large amounts of snow which fall in these mountains (as can be seen here with those large snow patches remaining in mid-june, even on south-facing slopes)

Now that the fate of Polaroid and instant film seems uncertain and could vanish forever, it is important to memorialize this one-of-a-kind medium.
Toys on Roids is a collection of over 60 Polaroids, each staging a different narrative with toys, ranging from vintage tin robots to contemporary vinyl figures.
Soo Visual Arts Center is publishing its first art book, cataloging a selection of the Polaroids from the exhibition. The book will be available through the Soo website and during the show.

For the third visit of the Norwegian/Swedish free jazz trio of The Thing to Houston, I screenrprinted this 13" by 21" poster. They performed at the Latham Auditorium at the Christ Church Cathedral in Downtown Houston. A total of seven colors were used and Durotone Newsprint Aged was the paper of choice. A total of thirty posters were screenprinted for this show
I just wanted to do something a little bit different from the conventional jazz poster and The Thing pretty much embodies that.
The men gather beside the smoldering Swedish Norwegian helicopter wreckage. Hopefully the is the only bizarre thing to happen this winter...
Kulla sind wehrhafte Wohntürme auf dem Westbalkan. Diese regionale Bauform findet sich insbesondere im Westen und Süden des Kosovo sowie in Nordalbanien.
Die Kulla besteht in der Regel aus zwei oder drei Stockwerken. Der typische Aufbau einer dreistöckigen Kulla bestand aus den Stallungen im Erdgeschoss, den Wirtschafts- und Schlafräumen im ersten Geschoss – hier fand das Familienleben statt – und den Räumen der Männer im Obergeschoss. Größere Fenster sind nur im obersten Stockwerk vorhanden.
Eine Kulla ist zwar nicht geeignet, einer Belagerung durch ein Heer standzuhalten, konnte aber Gruppen von Angreifern mehrere Tage Widerstand leisten.
In Nordalbanien dienten solche Gebäude den von der Blutrache verfolgten als Aufenthalt.
