Yes we’ve had enough of the Aphrodite face sculpt, that’s for sure, but with Malibu Barbie by Trina Turk I am all for the Aphrodite as I think they nailed it on the head for this doll. I feel that the Aphrodite is the new version of the Stacey sculpt used for the original Malibu Barbie. For the retail price of $50 I think this doll is worth getting. The reason being is that she comes with customized accessories that you will not find in any other Barbie doll like her groovy platform wedges. I don’t think it will ever be reproduced again. I love the fact that she can stand alone with those sandals too! She also comes with a pink cuff bracelet with Trina Turk’s signature fleur at the center. Though not present on the real life bracelet, I love that the interior of it is in gold. She also comes with this chic dome cutout cocktail ring that I’ve seen worn by the designer herself. Her sunglasses are an updated version of the Malibu Barbie round frame glasses first seen from the Check Please! Francie Silkstone doll. And you know that I live for new accessories! So that's A+++ in my book. Her straw tote bag is actually well made. It comes with a Trina Turk logo charm and the inside is fully lined with the Malibu Gold print fabric. She also comes with a sunscreen and a beach towel and additional beach fashion including a lacy white cover up with a hood, print shorts, blue peasant top and a print sun hat. Though we’ve had enough of dolls in bikinis, what makes Malibu Barbie stand out from the rest is for the reason that she comes with a printed swim wear with a fleur medallion. I love that the Malibu Gold print pulls colors from the original Malibu Barbie’s packaging. I thought that was well thought out. Also the fact that her bikini top ties at the back instead of the usual snap closures is what makes the doll with that attention to detail so irresistible. Just like Sun Lovin’ Malibu Barbie from 1978, she has sun tan lines which I adore. The down fall of this doll and probably the reason why she’s not selling is her face screening. For sure a lot of you know by now that the actual doll will never be like the promos. Like the usual from Mattel. Due to her eyebrows painted gray, it actually washed her out. I believe that she wasn’t meant to have that color. I think they’re supposed to match the dark streaks of her hair. So yes, those teeny weeny flaws can make or break the doll. I actually tried editing her eyebrows to brown to see how she looks like, and she actually looks more vibrant! Mine came with wonky eyes and I’m obsessing about it. I can’t help but by the fact that I love everything about this doll... except for her face issues. So picky little me wants to search for a replacement. If anyone selling a nude Trina Turk doll with great face screening please let me know...:)

Yey! I can finally post her picture. Like Barbiecollector4life, I will probably be blurring any newly sneaked dolls from BC if I ever post them. I'm guilty of posting Fan club members photos in the past but from here on out, I would have to obey those rules and agreements to be fair to club members. Anyways...

This doll is the only Barbie Collector doll at the moment that excites me. The doll itself is gorgeous. A lot of people say she look like a Basics doll or that she resembles the Tim Gunn Mackie doll. I think that this doll will be more sophisticated and her make-up is more dramatic compared to the Basics/TG doll. I'm a fan of smokey eyes and nude lips & that's what sold me. However, my only peeve with her design is the use of plastic jewelries that we've seen from past Barbies. Robert Best designed jewelries that were made specifically for each doll when he did his Platinum Label collection. It seems to me that Robert is the only designer who has access to those accessories since he had used those for Silkstone Barbies. Maybe Linda should have designed new accessories for this higher end doll. Also I can live without the mess that is in front of her belt (Why not use that as a bracelet. LOL). Linda has also followed Robert Best's uncreative way for naming dolls....BUT I still adore the doll and will be in front of the computer once again this year fighting for a chance to purchase this Platinum Label doll which will probably be sold out in less than 20 minutes.

The Barbie Look City Shine

November seems like a good month for Barbie. With the release of Moschino Barbie and the new wave of articulated The Barbie Look dolls here are some of my recent Barbie purchases which I intended to post before I left for the Integrity Toys Convention but I just couldn’t. I was too busy stressing out finishing my Competition entry. But enough about Adele! I’m going to take a mini break from the IT Convention dolls and focus on Barbie for a minute! Mind you this is like a rarity for me to talk about Barbie but because I’m all hyped up I’m going to celebrate Barbie and do a review. The Barbie Look line is pretty much the only ongoing series that I look forward to aside from anything designer related. These were purchased from the Fashion Week Sale so they were at a discounted price and I’m actually glad that I finally got a hold of these City Shine dolls. I thought I was missing out big time and I don’t even have a single Red Carpet doll from the past waves. The Barbie Look City Shine is all about metallic fashions with the dolls dressed for a glam night out.

So let’s start with Lace Dress. Honestly I just wanted her for her dress. While I appreciate the new face screening, I just think she looks a bit evil with those eyebrows and the fact that she has the Aphrodite open mouth sculpt makes it worse. I know, I know…. The face design is very reminiscent of Barbie Basics 1.0 but to me this didn’t work. Lovely dress though, and my Basics dolls need it since they really have nothing nice to wear other than their little black dresses.

Um… what happened here? Bronze Dress’ lashes are too heavy that I can’t even see her eyes. I don’t usually fix the dolls unless they have hair nets covering their hair. I take pictures of the dolls as they are in their packaging which has actually become a tradition of mine. I had to push her lashes up after I deboxed her and she looks better. You see, I’m really not a fan of their rooted lashes. They cover the eyes. They ruin the paint. They’re just a mess! Thank god the upcoming TBL dolls don’t have them. They’re better off without those bush. I’m actually excited about this doll because this was one of my wishes that came true (I’m still waiting for the Asian one) which proves the designers are listening to us fans. After the disappointment with Barbie Basics 3.0 Model 8, we finally have a Mbili with the Dark Brown, Chandra skin tone! While I like the idea of her look, I’m just not a fan that everything is too matchy. Bronze jewelry, bronze shoes, bronze everything. I mean even her hair! It works for her but in real life I would be questioning her taste level. Although she reminded me of Golden Dream Christie and maybe that was the inspiration behind her. I would love to get multiples of her and select the ones with good lashes and the ones to reroot.

Red Dress has the best styling out of all of them. The short hair works well with her look and it makes her edgy. I like her because she reminded me of the articulated Barbie Basics 2.5 dolls who I love so much. However, her face design was a miss. I think her eyes are too big and her eyebrows are too sparse. She seems out of place next to the dolls in my collection. She looks hoochy and I don’t want to associate Barbie with that. She’s supposed to be on point from the make-up down to the fashions. The eyebrows have got to go! I can understand if she was a 1920s or 30s themed doll but she isn’t. As you can see the fabric they used on her top is blotchy but apparently that was intentional to give it texture. Her skin tone is Nostalgia but as I compared her to my Barbie Basics with that same skin tone, she looks even paler which I have noticed on the recent Barbie dolls. It's like in between Peace and Nostalgia and I know there's a Pearl skin tone which was only used once for a Model Muse Barbie. I’m hoping that the upcoming articulated TBL dolls have skin tones that perfectly match the dolls from three years ago so I won’t have a hard time matching heads and bodies. They’ve really paid attention to the detail on her. I love that her finger nails have black nail polish but her toe nails have red nail polish. Something that they rarely do.

And then there’s Pink Dress who turned out to have the best face design out of all of them from the recent Fall 2015 Collection of City Shine. I bought two of her so I can choose which ones the best. The lashes are not out of control like the others. She’s the prettiest Barbie with the Pazette sculpt in my collection so far. She has the Afra skin tone. I think her hair needs to be a little bit wavy. I love that she’s wearing pink. Definitely reminiscent of the 80s. Very Saint Laurent 2014 Ready-to-Wear. I think the reason why I love Barbie is because there’s so much nostalgia. It brings me back to the days when I was glued to the tv as a kid and wait for the Barbie commercials to appear and we saw a lot of that in 2015 from Moschino to the new Dream Date Barbie.

My boss's office! Hulking former amateur boxer /hockey player! 😆😆 He seems to think he's the King surrounded by ladies!

Great guy!

I love the local versions of Barbie in the 80s, she was the latest dolls made by Aurimat!

I must admit, I love these girls. I know a lot of collectors had a lot to say about them, but all in all I like this line a lot. My steffie has a huge amount of glue but other than that I have no complaints.

I did get my new camera (yay!), however, please bear with me until I learn how to use the darn thing!! LOL!

I’m glad I made a decision to give Texas A&M University Ken a chance as I was ready to drop him from my wishlist. I felt like I didn’t need him since I already have Barbie Basics 2.0 Model No. 16 who is the better looking of the two. This one definitely is in need of a reroot with a dark hair so he can step out of Model 16’s shadow. There’s so much concern about the quality of his body and in my perspective there’s really not much of a difference from Harley-Davidson Ken’s and Jack Sparrow’s body in terms of workmanship. I was able to purchase three Harley-Davidson giftsets when they were on sale at BC.com in 2011 and one of the giftsets had a Ken with an arm with a crevice by his tattoo. Well I sold that one. I also had a Barbie Basics 2.5 doll with an arm literally opened and I haven’t even taken her out of the box yet. That goes to show that whether they are priced $25 or $60, these Collector dolls have poor quality control... And don’t get me started on wonky eyed dolls! I’m pretty much happy with my Texas A&M University Ken. My only issue with him is that he has a head full of glue and that method of rooting should be banned and never to be used again. Ever! I’m still waiting for my African-American version since I purchased him as a pre-order. That seller better hurry it up or else…! The Univesity Barbie dolls are available online at BarbieCollector.com and sold exclusively at Walmart.com and maybe (and I mean maybe) sold at physical Walmart stores by the end of July or starting in August. So be on the look out as these Kens are hot sellers. I was watching two listing of the AA Ken version on eBay and one was sold for $90 and the other for about $109 something. Amazing!

Outfits - The Barbie Look City Shopper

So my Barbie Spring Cleaning Sale haul arrived yesterday and I couldn’t be happier with my purchases. I was trying to avoid spending money because there really are more “important stuff” that I can spend my money on for an upcoming event. *wink wink But I feel that this impulse buy was worth it. Now, I totally forgot about Statue of Liberty Barbie who I think is one of the prettier dolls with the Generation Girl sculpt to come out in the last four years. She is such an underrated doll, but when I saw pictures of her redressed and restyled from my friend Jacob, she became a must-have. You gotta love her sun-kissed skin with those golden eyeshadows. They do have an ongoing promo for The Barbie Look items, which states that if you get two TBL fashions and the Wardrobe, you’ll get a $20 discount. Even though I already have both Poolside and Pink on the Green fashions I still need them as replacements for the flawed items that I have. For the price of $4.76, it’s a great deal. Now the pièce de résistance to this purchase is The Barbie Look Wardrobe. This is one solid item that I’m impressed with. It comes with fifteen hangers and three insertable wallpapers, or you can create your own to customize the interior. It has three functional drawers and hangers which is really great for dioramas and display. My only wish was that it could have come with a lid so it doubles as a carrying case/storage or something, oh well… Now what I’m really impressed about is that the Wardrobe was designed to compliment the Barbie ♥ Jonathan Adler furnitures. Even the drawer knobs are similar. Genius! For the sale price of $34.39, and for a purchase total of $53.82 I think it was money well spent. No regrets.

The Sailor Moon series continues with a photo of the rebodied Barbie Looks Sweet Tea doll as Makoto.

Manga Makoto is actually the one with the apartment full of plants. So here she is in a makeshift apartment setup with many of the MGA Miniverse plants I've accumulated (also several from LovelyDesiCreations on Etsy).

A long time ago I saw saw that FoxyBelle(www.flickr.com/photos/foxybelle/) had used a Target bathroom organizer as a shelving unit (you can see it here at flic.kr/p/25PXgem) and I thought this was a really great idea! So I got one of these organizers for dollhouse use and haven't found an occasion to actually use it until now. The copper color is a bit hard to incorporate.

The "bench/table" and bowl of dried flowers is from Five Below. The rug is a mousepad from Amazon. I found the white dog at an antique mall. Mako's dress is also a handmade antique mall find. Her shoes are Integrity Toys and her earrings are human earrings from Claire's.

Thanks to everyone who tagged me! I hope you all enjoy my version of dolls in denim. Sorry for the plain background, I couldn't come up with a whole lot lol. Feel free to play along anyone who hasn't already done the tag :)

All of the models are wearing clothes, shoes, belts, and the hat I recently scored from a thriftstore! :) Major deal!

So last night before I went to bed I set my alarms 8:30am and 8:40am to get ready for Black and White Collection™ Beaded Gown Barbie® Doll to go on sale at 9:00am PDT. I did not wake up to the two alarms I set. Shocker!!! I woke up at exactly 8:59am. Rushed to my computer with my iPod in hand to get into the BC website. As expected, there was a lag as people are trying to snag the doll at the same time. 43 minutes later (and still shaking!), after a handful of page errors I was able to acquire the doll and got a confirmation email. Hopefully BC won't cancel my order...or I'll throw a fit! She is now Sold Out.

Gloria and younger sister Tobie arrive at the Noir Nightingale for Addison's launch party.

Paparazzi : "Gloria! When will your new movie finish filming?"

"Gloria, who is with you tonight"

"Gloria, can you confirm your upcoming album?"

Gloria : " I am with my younger sister Tobie tonight, you may recognize her from the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders."

Paparazzi : "Tobie, over here, can you tell us how it is living in your sisters shadow?"

"Gloria, will you be seeing anyone special tonight?"

"Tobie, can you move out of the shot"

"Gloria, one pose by yourself please!"

Tobie : "Ok Gloria, if you don't mind I am ready to go in"

Gloria : "Go ahead girl, I need to give them what they want. Watch and learn little sis"

Tobie heads inside and Gloria remains on the carpet and starts posing for them.

The Steffie's have a Girl's Night Out

First of all, I am a Barbie Girl. There, I said it, and I am not ashamed of it. I have loved you for longer than I can remember. I know that we've had our ups and downs, but my feelings have never changed throughout the years.

Sure, there have been other fashion dolls that have crossed my path that I've really liked, but they could never, ever, take your place in my heart. I know that you can be glittery and show-offy and overwhelmingly ruffled and pink from time to time (who needs a new Dream House every other year, for goodness sakes, and PINK at that??), but that's one of the reasons why I care - you know what you like and you go for it, no matter what anyone thinks or says.

Many times I have even threatened to walk away and not collect you any more, but you knew that it was a front - where would I go? Who would I collect? You and only you......

You created the path for others to walk in - without you, would there even be any other fashion dolls? I think not! I know that others are in line ready to steal your crown (and probably already have), but you still stand alone to me.

So, that being said, I would like to thank you for bringing me so much joy for too many years to count and for also inspiring "A Billion Dreams".

Love you girl!!!
