Definitely the highest one of my images has gone in Explore!
They're all around us, textures, those lines and patterns, seemingly purposeful, sometimes random.
Look closely in nature and you'll find them everywhere, they draw you in, sometimes they are impossibly perpendicular. Here is an example of textures that at a cursory glance make no sense, how could this monolith possibly form naturally with lines that are virtually opposite those a mere few feet below them. Bry will give you the precise explanation, it'll blow your mind, time scales and natural evolution of the landscape which one can barely comprehend. Nature is awesome.
10 exposures went into this image, 4 for the sky and 6 for the foreground, shot with an h-alpha modified Nikon Z6 and Tamron 35mm f1.4 on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer tracking mount. Foreground exposures are 2 minutes at f2 and ISO 1600, sky exposures are 2 minutes at f2 and ISO 800.
I'm back from a couple weeks of little time for creativity & playing with a new texture I've been working on - not quite where I want it, but close.
Art - Texture applied to photo image.

This is about as close to a turkey vulture as I ever wish to be. I had been driving along a country road in spring and spotted this fellow as he was perched on the beam sticking out of the top of an abandoned barn. I really wasn't sure what kind of bird he was until I got closer and had a better look at that "face only a mother could love."
He tolerated my being there for a few minutes and was probably amused as I stumbled over the old farm rubble trying to get close enough for a picture and I don't for one minute believe he was more afraid of me than I was of him--not with that beak! Quite honestly though, I'm not sure what put me into a bigger state of palpitation: his predatory appearance or whether I'd got a reasonably clear shot of His Nibs. :-D
It was a grey and damp day so the sky was as white as paper which is why he's a Textured Turkey.
Thank you all so much for your kind comments on my Adora and Shiloh photos and the warm welcome back. :-)

Lone Lily
Unfurled in quiet repose
Grasped in the hands of the damned
Held under chin to capture the soul
Closed in the darkness
Of satin lined box
Never again to be gazed upon
It’s sweet scent lost to the living
Slowly fading as flesh melts
And all that remains..

Those of us who photograph subjects in Florida that are not sandy beaches and palm trees often refer to our subjects as “the real Florida”. To me this image looks a little more surreal than real. I had been wanting to get some shots in this area for a long time, so on my recent trip to The Forgotten Coast I found a spot on the side of the road where I wouldn’t get stuck, strapped on my hip waders, and found a path down to the water. The whole experience was a bit scary and a lot of fun.
I processed and textured this in Photoshop.
