Textile Archive in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London - August 2006

During my first semester of my foundation course, I was very much in the experimental stage of my studies. Our first semester was comprised of weekly projects in different types of art, from fashion to fine art and it was during the fashion week where I was introduced to the sewing machine, working with different fabrics to create compositions and textures. In my free time, I produced a series of experimental outcomes such as linear compositions or images using artists as my influence.

 

Medium: Paper, acrylic paint and a range of different materials.

This guy is one of the shopowner at Geylang Serai Street market.He sells textiles which I think mostly is for women.When I ask him to take a picture automatically he posed and smiled in front of his shop.A Very nice guy he is.

For my Textiles free project I wanted to make my own roll-top bag since I don't have $200 to throw at expensive messenger bag companies. Holds up really well considering I've never sewn before.
