This room has been entirely designed using AEVA images. Observe the artwork on the wall, textile on the couches, and curtains, creating a nice contemporary theme for the room

The Cromford textile factory in Ratingen on the Rhine was founded in 1783 by Johann Gottfried Brügelmann and was the first factory on the European mainland. Today it is home to a branch of the LVR Industrial Museum.

This textile vendor was more aloof, but he let me photograph him nevertheless.

Textile factories making clothes are a big industry in Cambodia. Many of the clothes find their way to Western Markets.

 

Photos of some of the factories, and of women from local villages being brought in via trucks to work in the factories.

 

Blurry as it was a quick shot as the truck passed going in the opposite direction.

Tullie Textiles group meets on the second Sunday of the month at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery between 2-4 pm. Each month we see a different object from the collections and I demonstrate a different textile skill or technique. The group is free to attend. June: Beaded Buttons

We also had a selection of work from a participatory project run by artist Carol Parker called 'From Lincolnshire and Back.'

Made from 100% raw cotton, these beautiful Shawls are hand-woven in Burma.

 

This multi-purpose garment has a variety of different uses in addition to shawl, such as a sarong, a blanket and even as a baby hammock carrier.

 

Our shawls and scarves come in a range of colours to give them a modern look, easily adaptable to a western wardrobe.
