My flatmate had completed her end of year textiles project with this scarf being her outcome. She needed some final shots to portray her story behind the scarf and i agreed to do them for her. The two sides are of the scarf contrast from a hippie chic to a very urban look.

Learned a fun new skill today... how to make a plaid pattern. Woo fun! Now watch how many plaids I start making ... little obsessive? No!

hand knitting with lace, paper, felt trapped in vanishing muslin.

I've had to call a halt to laying down the croched and knitted strips as I've run out of suitably dyed fabric.

From my stash I've taken some undyed muslin and an old damask tablecloth which was given to me by an old friend on the death of her aunt. The aunt had kept all her old, faded and mended table cloths which obviously held so many memories for her.

This old damask fabric has taken the dye beautifully and will enhance the project, both in terms of colour and memories.

Thank you Mabel for keeping such a wonderful fabric and handing it down to the next generation.

More treasures from the attic.

My wedding dress!

It is now badly stained, and of course doesn't fit, so rather than transport it to the new house - and put it straight into the attic, I decided to cut it up and re-use pieces in some meaningful way.

It was a very emotional task, but I managed it and I've salvaged a quantity of useable fabric and trim.

The Dunean mill is unique because it is the first mill in the area to be made with tan brick. Also, note the decorative cornices on some of the roof sections.

Although the neighborhood no longer depends solely on the mill for jobs, the Dunean Mills community is actively maintaining its neighborhood identity, as well as trying to revitalize and improve quality of life.

This is one of my favorite fabric shop at Nippori Textile Town. They have a wide range of fabrics to choose from...especially kawaii Japanese prints and patterns. And the shop owners are the cutest Japanese couple.

Textile Design School students mount their original textiles on boards.

Uses a variety of red, gold, olive and chartreuse silks and a little brocade flower in the center. I think the photo does it justice, but this is stunning in person.

A trip to the Amber Fort is a popular destination when touring Jaipur, but visitors are increasingly adding what critics have called ‘a little gem of a museum’ on to their list as well. In the Fort’s shadow and a mere ten minute walk through the cobbled streets of Amber, the historic capital of Rajasthan, lies the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing (AMHP). Located in a magnificently restored haveli or mansion, the museum displays a varied selection of block printed textiles alongside images, tools and related objects – all chosen to provide an in-depth look into the complexity of this ancient tradition.
