All I can say is WOW

This was FUN to make!

I have been dreaming about making bigger and more fashionable things for myself and now I got it! If I had time I would be doing this more often!

PS: I will also be spending a little time teaching in Denkingen on Saturday the 23rd of January. It will be a day of storytelling with children and then felting an object related to the story. If you have a kid that likes to felt and if you live near the Rotweil Germany area, then come and join us! We will be doing ''Going on a Lion Hunt'' from 10 - 12:30 and making mask and felted lion tails for the Fasching parties! Later we will be having fun with ''Ritter Rost and the Rusty Movie'' and there we will be making our own funny figures out of wool, recycled junk and pipe cleaners. It will be from 2:30 - 5:00 at the felt barn community house. Contact www.denkingen.de for more info.

Last month, Michael and I had the opportunity to visit a fascinating vintage clothing exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Entitled, “Death Becomes Her: A Century of Mourning Attire”, it featured an historical progression of mourning attire spanning the years 1840 to 1916. Worn mainly by new widows, other family members, children, sisters, grandmothers, and even men might also dress in black.

These finely constructed, exquisite and expensive garments reflected the current styles of their era; however, with little or no color. I wandered the beautiful yet, somber vignettes studying the artistry ever mindful that a real person had worn the apparel in mourning for a lost loved one.
