Texting on Black

This is taken on Canal Street near Broadway in NYC. I liked the bustle in the scene and how the lady in the mural seemed to be looking down upon us or at least upon the music note guy texting....:-)))

A text message for Christmas!!

Hope you have a great Christmas season and best of luck for 2010!!!!

('Explored' @ 219 on Dec 24th, '09).

Turns out yesterday's photo brought out a bit of interest.

The Girl asked if she could have a sticker on her phone also. When I asked if she wanted a camera too she said no and wanted a kitty cat instead. Go figure.

She did say that my phone looked silly because it looked like a camera. To which she picked it up and started photographing things around the room.

MODERN TIMES! COMMUNICATION.

From a very young age you see children with mobile phones, nowadays.

Mixed feelings.

I personally think that it is still a very expensive must have 'gadget'? How did we all ever survive without it????????

Anyway, here, this girl was only playing with her mum's phone, pretending, it was great fun!

thank you for your time and comments, greatly appreciated, M, (*_*)

Streetphotography at the Preuvemenint in Maastricht. A tasting-culture with the fancy jackets and cocktail-dresses. Maastricht shows itselves.

Sometimes it just takes a text message/SMS on a phone to make people happy... I was looking for a grungy paparazzi effect on this shot.

At last, I've decided to give in to these popular daily photo projects - 365 Days, Project 365, 365 Days Project and 365. I have been contemplating about them. I know it is difficult but I want to take the challenge. I most likely will get the discipline I want by being able to meet "personal" deadlines. There will also be self-gratification, of course... I was tagged by moi buddy... or I thought he was! :P shawn-i-am!

Let them speak now or forever hold their peace

Wait! Wait! Stop the wedding

You're just marrying her for spite

If she knew the inside story

She'd tell you what you're doing just ain't right

I stumbled across these young newlyweds inside the San Francisco City Hall. I couldn't help but wonder who they could possibly be texting during a moment like this.

Of course, I decided to let my imagination run away like Jennifer Wilbanks in her Adidas on a hot Georgia day. ;~)

in the late afternoon light that sweeps through palma's old town, a woman pauses in stride, phone in hand, perhaps deciphering a message or seeking direction. the contrast is stark — her form illuminated in the sun's golden assertion, the shadow a quiet echo on the ancient walls. there's a rhythm here, an urban ballet, where each pedestrian is both dancer and choreographer, navigating the city's storied corridors. as the window casts its gaze and the world outside hustles by, she finds a moment of still, her attention captured by a glowing screen, a modern compass amidst the echoes of history.

I haven't been active with Flickr, at all. I'm so sorry, I've just been so busy with everything that I haven't gotten the chance to pick up my camera. I decided to upload to say hello hello hello, and to just talk.

This picture is very simple; but it means alot to me. This quote is not mine, but it symbolizes me in many ways. Love is a very powerful thing, and I believe i'm unconditionally in love with my boyfriend. And i'm enjoying every minute of it.

Sending thanks and love your way friends! 💗

Wikipedia's text messaging article provides a detailed history of texting. Although there were antecedents--telex in 1933, ALOHAnet in 1971, and even wireless telegraphy in the nineteenth century--it wasn't until 1995 that Sprint Spectrum introduced the first modern text messaging service (SMS, or Short Messaging Service) in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Maryland.

I think that this chronology will have to be revised, however, since I'm pretty sure that this old photo shows a kid texting away on his phone while his brother and mother wait for him to finish. Unfortunately, the picture isn't dated, but since the boys are wearing knickerbockers. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was taken as early as the 1910s or 1920s.

I wonder if any other texting photos from the early twentieth century have survived.

(New challenges require new approaches: for the duration of my time off work, and with my horizons severely limited, I’ve decided to experiment with shooting and presenting pairs of images, instead of the usual single frames. The results might not turn out to be anything special, but there’s got to be something worthwhile in the process.)
