Non-destructive testing of the new lamp posts they installed a few days before in our street.

Presumably the attachment on the JCB clamps onto the lamp post, this then applies controlled vibrations to it. A device is attached lower down and records the vibrations, or lack of. Presumably the results indicate if the post is pooped, or the foundations.

this is probably one of the sharper photos I got this morning when I went out to test my sigma 70-200 2.8 with 2x extension tube.

Got a new toy today - the Canon IXUS 970.

I spent half of yesterday looking at camera reviews online only to find out that I hate every point & shoot camera out there. They tempt you with an exciting feature like 10x zoom only to disappoint you in another area like image quality. And I really can't stand those dumb-it-down-so-much cameras with "intelligent scene recognition and face detection and intelligent ISO and you don't even have to press the shutter because this camera will spot when you've framed a great shot and snap the picture for you!!". After a good 5+ hours of searching I realised I'd never be happy with anything, so today I just walked into a store and got the camera that seemed least crap.

That's what you get for being used to the quality and control of a DSLR.

They took water samples testing for various factors including insect levels and pollutants. Students explored the lake at the Clark Reservation State Park. Samples of the fish popluation were taken at Onondaga Lake Park. The amazing activities concluded at the SUNY ESF campus with solar powered cars to demonstrate the renewable resource that we all need to embrace!
