I always snap a test shot indoors to make sure the camera's ready and working. It's worth it for the one time in twenty when it tells me "NO CF CARD". I quite liked this one.
Test print in low quality. I've made this test of my doll head's lid to check the size and some details.
finally hooked up to the pump. It... kind of works, there's some heavy overshoot and I will have to tweak the controls a bit. Other than that there are no problems what so ever, so I'm quite happy.
Still Day 2 of my D810 test Drive.
Before we went to the MIccosukee festival we took a look see on Loop Road. I used the opportunity to try and test the dynamic range of the 810 by giving it high contrast scenes of light and shadow.
All shots are hand held. Some post with NX2. This was a real shadowy shot. Detail was kept well when I pulled this one out of the dark side.
comparing iso 200 - 1600, f4.5 - 4.5, 18mm, auto white balance

I wanted to test the noise behavior with high iso.
I wrote an article about the test. Please check here for german speakers: www.doreen.es/2008/09/09/nikon-d90-test/
PS: Sorry I didn't care about image details // Bitte nicht auf Bildausschnitte achten, hab ich auch nicht gemacht ;)
Artist's concept of a nuclear row charge explosion at a sea-level canal site. The use of row charge explosions to create ditch-like craters in the construction of sea-level canals is being studied in the Atomic Energy Commission's Ploughshare program for the peaceful uses of nuclear explosives. c. 1966

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Soldiers of the North Carolina National Guard train for Rapid Reaction Force duty at the Catawba River Pump Station here today. The training scenario tests the Soldiers ability to use nonlethal force to disperse a crowd of aggressors from a water plant. This training prepares the Soldiers to support state and local first responders and county emergency management agencies. The RRF is a quick reaction team that, on order, is deployable anywhere in North Carolina within 24 to 36 hours of a critical event. In times of crisis, the RRF may be ordered by the President of the United States or the Governor of North Carolina in order to augment Federal or State Authorities in response to actions such as a known terrorist attack, civil unrest or a natural and/or man-made disaster. What the heck?
I'll tell ya what the heck:
Test prints are an integral and often surprisingly beautiful and playful part of the hand printed process. They are never ever the same, and therefore true, one-of-a-kind, individual Monoprints. Made from varied layers and layers of inks from different print runs to check colors, clean out a messy screen and a dozen other reasons, Test Prints are spontaneously created and basically, magical. Hence once a test print is sold, that's it, gone baby.
I keep a few with me in the studio while printing and every now and then one looks suddenly nice & done. Like this one!

First attempt with this lens. 2010-07-22. Sinar Norma with Homemade Petzval-type lens, Aviar doublet and +3 meniscus 220mm F/5.6 lens 1s at F/5.6, EV=9.5 at 100ISO. Kentmere VC Select at ISO6 in R09 1+80, 3-5mins at 20C. Invert colours, curves, spotting, The Gimp.
I've been trying to get the Petzval swirly bokeh in a homemade lens for a bit. Looks like I am close at last... more tests at the weekend.
Last year it seemed like everyone and their mom's was trying out for Adventure Time (my favorite cartoon) and I was no exception. Obviously, I didn't make the cut but I thought I'd post my boards. If you look at this one in the slideshow view it's more fun to cycle through.
