This is a test of the basic components of our robot for the Make: Robot Build.

This is a test shot with my new bridge camera!

Ok so first off I know this isn't a fair comparison but just in-case anyone cares this is the difference between a cheap consumer lens (on the right) and a pro grade lens (on the left)

Both pictures were taken at F5 1/60s iso 200 with a SB600 on camera bounced off ceiling set to 1/4

Between lens changing I had a piece of string on the ground to mark where he was standing and where I was shooting from.

So the test is pretty much as accurate as I could make it. Both pictures were shot Jpeg (which I NEVER shoot jpeg but wanted fair results) sooc

So the Image on the left is the:

Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm F2.8G FX

The image on the right is:

Nikkor AF-S 55-200mm VR F4-5.6G DX

The amount of detail in the eyelashes should be enough to demonstrate the difference. But for some reason the DX lens is under exposed.

All that said I know which lens I will always reach for!!!

You may or may not get to see me wearing nothing but this wig and matching socks at a gallery last night....

This isn't the final, but it's very close! The orange piece was mostly used to test out various adhesives and see which one would make for the best glue joint while also being the most hidden and clear during assembly

So this dude was definitely just a test model for another shoot, but he looked amazing and go figure I'd love some of the shots I took of him more than those from the actual shoot. :s

I've never used this new computer before, not shot a photo to edit up in a few years (I'm getting back to this camera thing), Canon's DDP and Photomatix have really improved since I used them about 10 years back.

I'm working on getting me sea leg again,so to speak.

Another quick test - the birds were scarce today, the tide was very high and few rocks left for them but I found a few Southern Gull and waited for movement. The composite shows a burst - missed one - only wanted 15 to fit on one page - followed the bird and maintained pretty fine focus. The single crop images are from another sequence where the subject merged into a stationary bird but the camera remained on the moving bird - pretty impressive - day one with my Sony RX10 M4 testing a few features

Testing the new camera, focus engine feels fast and accurate.
