Macro Mondays

The art of nature.

I managed to visit Kangaroo Island during my trip to Adelaide for the opening of the ANZANG exhibition at the SA Museum which includes my "Stormlight & Stardust" image. This is from a bay on the island being belted by storms over the Southern Ocean. Next stop from the edge here is Antarctica! It's been a long while since I've been able to shoot any seascapes, a conscious effort to expand the portfolio in other areas.

Canon 1DsMkIII, 16-35mm 2.8L, GND filter, single exposure.

Nature curves, twists and turns to reveal the perfect golden ratio.

As Ian slowly pulls away from Florida heading north the far top edges of the spinning clouds are now coming over Maryland this evening. The size of the storm is very big given the clouds are already spreading up this way.

Expecting rains over the weekend as the remnants of the storm head up the east coast and mountain areas.

With the clouds coming in from the south and east and skies clear to the west, I figured there was a chance of pretty colors this evening. So grabbed the dogs and we went down and visited my dad at Middle River.

The river was pretty smooth given low winds and little boat traffic, making for pretty reflections as the sky went on fire.

My sister in Florida is still without power and cleaning up some storm damage, but luckily they were far enough from the eye to limit the damage.

Many were not lucky at all down there in Fort Meyers and can only feel for them as they deal with the storm surge and wind damage. Having dealt with that when Isabel hit Maryland years ago flooding my parent's home (where I took this photo this evening) I was thinking about all that damage then and the cleanup we had to do for days there. Many down there have a long road ahead for them.

One from a few years ago. I thought it looked festive for holidays.

Nature provided the scene but the background was not interesting. I changed the color when editing. I like it much better this way!

Loved this week's challenge. Woody vine tendril

For Macro Mondays: "Spiral"

My garden

New word :-) this is a part of the sweet pea green system that helps the plant to climb up. Macro work.

HBW!

We still have thick fog so I forced the flash :)

A wild plant I search for because of the tendrils has begun to bloom. The tendril swirl is tiny, about one centimeter across.

A wonderful covering of hoar frost graces the thin branches converting the normally chaotic scene into a wintery maelstrom of tendrils. Taken in Brush Hill Nature Reserve, Buckinghamshire.

Nature presented a rare scene for me to see. A tendril surrounded by dew covered ferns growing at the edge of a cliff. A superb bokeh scenario!
