Construction of the new interchange at Preston Avenue South and Circle Drive has officially begun. This is one of the new temporary signalized intersections as part of the detour.
HDR. This was a colour image. I converted it to monochrome, and made two copies, one darker and one lighter, using levels. Processing as an HDR image, I feel it gives a nice punchy contrast to the scene without looking too manipulated. ISO 1600, 1/15 second at full aperture of f3.2.
One of the top gates at Church Lock on the Grand Union Canal has been fitted with, what I presume is, a temporary balance beam while a proper replacement is sourced.

Before the house was built, the homeless single women spent their nights in the basement of the community center, on cots.

the brood of nine ducklings seemed to have been deserted by Mum. One in particular was very distressed and was racing about the water squawking. Half of the brood were sitting on the bank. Mum eventually turned up. To their credit, the little ones did tend to stay together when they went swimming.

used to be a two-lane street. now traffic-calmed with bollarded same-grade sidewalk and roadway. one way one lane street with parking.
"music at the lawn" every friday.
The ticket hall & bus terminal (and all the Saltsjöbanan rail station) are partially boarded off now so that the deconstruction of the 1930s Slussen cloverleaf interchange on top can be demolished - and a new T-intersection, a new bus terminal, a new subway exit, new bridges across to the Old Town, new public spaces and, of course, a new sluice.
