Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part, because that is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement. It is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "In love", which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away and this is both an are and a fortunate accident. We had roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.

For four months already, this evacuation camp in Pantar, Lanao del Norte is home to at least 500 people from Marawi City. Photo taken on September 19, 2017.
During the week of the races the population of Birdsville goes from 80 to 6000. There are no motels and no caravan parks. Everyone sets up camp in the scrub by the side of the road into town. This was a temporary motel set up by a bus tour company in the middle of town.
The opaque stain is still wet, but I'm very happy to have it enclosed from the elements for the winter. In the spring the porch gets a roof. update:spring 2012 and still no porch roof.
I shot these interchangeably with the Nikon FE and the Pentax. I used both 50mm and 28mm lenses. I also used both Tri-X 400 and TMax 3200 film. Perhaps I'll revisit these and sort out specific details for each shot...
Thirteen photographs in one day. I wanted to both upload this series serially and in its entirety. In the end, I think it works best taken in all at once.
Two weeks ago I accompanied Dexter and Ashley one evening when they went off to dance. As they were warming up I saw an opportunity to take some very nice photographs (in my opinion) so I ran across campus and grabbed my cameras to shoot these. As far as I know, Dexter coreographed this "for fun," but it looked great and was exciting to simultaneously shoot the dance and watch it improve with each runthrough.
