This is about 9 feet high on the wall and looks like it's been there a _while_.

We experienced a few days period with snow or sleet. In next day from the date of this photo it started to rain and two days later practically no snow was left. Back to dark and dull November.

At White Sands National Monument in New Mexico, a trail marked by mostly sand-buried posts leads out across the open dunes of white gypsum sand. A mile or so out, we saw these occasional shack-looking shapes silhouetted off to the west...

Skunkbush sumac plants colonize on the moving dunes and send root networks out into the sand. Eventually, though, the dunes drift on, as dunes often do. The somewhat moister sand around the roots hardens, sort of like rock, and these gypum plant stands remain as pedestals for the still growing vegetation. In time, the stress becomes too much, however. The sand dries, the pedestal crumbles, and the tree comes tumbling down.

It appears to be very difficult to kill off the Pacers. Despite mass withdrawals at the end of last year a number of units look likely to be pressed back into service providing additional capacity whilst social distancing measures are required on public transport.

Although many people were glad to see the back of them this seems to be a sensible decision rather than increasing risk by having overcrowded trains or leaving people standing on the platforms.

Four units worked the 3Z01 ECS from Heaton, where they had been in warm storage, to Newton Heath.

every morning this place is filled up with fog. this mythical phenomenon is created in the following manner: the bottom of the basin, although the surface is dry, contains a lot of groundwater, and the evaporation of the water over the night forms fog.

A bit of wasp nest blew onto fresh snow. So delicate and beautiful which is weird to say about wasps. It's amazing how quick they build and that it's only for one season - most of the wasps dying off when winter hits and their home at the mercy of it as well.

The Cardboard Cathedral, formally called the Transitional Cathedral, in Christchurch, New Zealand, is the transitional pro-cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch, replacing ChristChurch Cathedral, which was significantly damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. The Cardboard Cathedral was designed by the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban and opened in August 2013. It is located on the site of St John the Baptist Church on the corner of Hereford and Madras Streets in Latimer Square, several blocks from the permanent location of ChristChurch Cathedral.

Can't just walk by such great light without taking a photo - even though I only had my phone to do the job. :D

I was in Parkanaur forest park one evening last year and only had my phone with me... ever the opportunist, I snapped these gorgeous rhododendron blossoms and was pretty pleased with the result.

Just a few days later and the petals were gone..... As always, nature has a way of teaching us life lessons... In a day and age when looks and beauty are counted so important (by the fashion/beauty industry - not by me!!!) it's wise to remember that these things only last for a while and that real beauty comes from deep within, it's the heart that counts!!!! and that's not just something "ugly" people say! :)

I will be off air for a while - have an important visitor from Canada coming to stay with me for a couple of days - so i'm busy making fudge, banoffee pie, chocolate cake and loads of other goodies lol

Have a great weekend everyone and thank you for your views, comments and faves :) :) :)

This little lady showed up at our place Thursday with no ID. Made herself right at home. We have checked with all the neighbors, local vets, newspapers and stores for info. Nothing. Yesterday she got a bath. Today she goes to the vet to see if she is micro chipped. She appears to have been on her own for a while. Collar was too tight. Foot pads are dry and rough. Knows her way around a house and appears to be well mannered. Loves to play and dig. Seems to accept that this is Greta's home first. We will keep looking for her owner but for now, she is safe, warm and fed.

Snow squalls meet CPKC 241 while it charges north of Erskine. Wind and blowing snow were already a factor before this blast of snow came through. It made for a dramatic winter scene.
