Green heron taken at Wildwood Lake in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Thank you very much for your faves and comments!
Tufts of mountain grass catch the last rays of light on the snow-clad slopes of Beinn-y-Phott as the chain of summits extending from Snaefell all the way to North Barrule are beautifully illuminated in the distance. This was taken a few weeks ago in what was probably the last patch of winter weather we can expect for the Isle of Man for this season.
On a completely different note, I woke up to the sad news of the passing of the astrophotographer Alyn Wallace this morning. I’m genuinely shocked and saddened by this, particularly as he was so young. I didn’t personally know Alyn, but I’ve followed his photography adventures and journey keenly for the last 6 years or so. He was an inspiring, engaging and extremely talented photographer who without a doubt had a profound impact on many thousands of photographers across the globe. Half the battle with photography is finding that motivation to drag yourself out the front door to face what are usually uncomfortable environmental conditions head on. Watching his adventures never failed to fill me to the brim with photographic enthusiasm to do this. A reminder if we ever needed it that life is a fragile and fleeting thing. RIP Alyn ✨

The water takes over the fields almost overnight. The wind helps the waves to conquer the land faster and faster.
Floods in the Wetterau.
somewhere in life, or should i say, everywhere in life, change happens. although it is said that “the only thing constant is change”, it still takes me by surprise each time i realize that things and people and i can change so much in so short a time. the only thing i can do is hope that these changes are all for the better, no matter how difficult some of them might be.
in a day or so, i will be saying a temporary goodbye to Flickr and to you all. not to worry, i will be back. so many things have happened to me here in Flickrdom that i need sometime to take them all in. mind you, most of these things were all good, especially the part where i met each and every one of you. and for that i shall forever be grateful. but even good things need time to “settle in”. i don’t want to let life hurry on without giving myself a chance to pause long enough to appreciate all these gifts of friendship that i have been given. i need some quiet time to count my blessings.
as you can see, even a temporary goodbye is so very difficult that i am doing it at a snail’s pace. take care, you all! stay happy, and keep those amazing images coming. i will be watching, somehow, someway.
Due to COVID19 pandemic, all bars and restaurants are closed in France. In normal days, this place hosts a famous bar with nice terrasse and private beach. Today, people are simply going for a walk ....
We might reach 60s (16C) today. It is not supposed to freeze again here till Thursday and Friday, but with the state wide power issues in Texas, I decided I better upload today's photo early just in case.
Amtrak’s eastbound Southwest Chief spends some extra time in Lamy, New Mexico. Due to a failed locomotive, the train is having an extended stay here. Across the street at the Legal Tender Saloon, business was brisk. After a great dinner there, it was nice to walk around the train. Rough night for all the workers involved though. Amtrak and restaurant.
How disruptive, having to move away from where we normally have our meals together. A kitchen renovation has turned our daily routine upside down. On the flipside, we've discovered that the light over here in the library is somehow warmer. This temporary bokeh is a nice trade-off too.
