The connection of the river Bedón with the sea generates this tongue of stones for the use and enjoyment of its visitors.
For several weeks now, coming on to nearly 4 months, Journey Beyond Rail's "Indian Pacific" luxurious passenger train has been diverted via Melbourne. Normally, this service runs between Sydney, NSW on the East Coast and Perth, WA on the West Coast of Australia. When travelling within NSW, the train heads west out of Sydney towards Broken Hill close to the South Australian border, then onto Adelaide, thence Perth. However, due to severe rainfall in mid to late October causing multiple washaways to track between Broken Hill & Parkes closing the line; The Indian Pacific would be made to make a deviation. The deviation would be to depart Adelaide and travel towards Melbourne, VIC, rejoining NSW at Albury and continuing north along the Main Southern Line to Goulburn. Due to time restraints, the train from Adelaide to Sydney & vice versa would terminate / originate at Goulburn. After the passengers have disembarked the train, they would join coaches (buses) for the remainder of their journey to Sydney. On one such occasion, we see Pacific National locomotives NR86 & NR28 working train number 3AS8 up the Cullerin Range just south of the temporary terminus of Goulburn. Both locomotives are painted in a special livery, specifically to haul the Indian Pacific, albeit different versions. The difference being in the logos. Once upon a time, the Indian Pacific liveried NR's stood out amongst the rest of the fleet being painted in an all over dark blue, with one even being painted in a bright yellow livery. Now, they wear the Pacific National Corporate colours with Indian Pacific logos. Wednesday, 18th January 2023.

Was experimenting with the Arista Ultra 100, since I had some (major) film defects the last time I used the 120 format. Went out in a early AM toward a local trail, and thematically tried to include shadows and reflections as much as I could. Using semistand development, there were definitely film defects around, which I guess is the price one pays for using budget film. While it can be corrected in post, usually I'm not a big fan of it. I still like the tonality of Ultra, and the price, but may have to transition toward a higher price point film to avoid said issues. Thanks for all those flickerans who continue to inspire - you really do help all of us keep trying!

Nothing better than getting lost in the woods on a foggy day, looking for a particular composition. Early autumn that already gives me satisfaction, waiting for the most beautiful colors of the year.

This temporary market is located outside an indoor market, which is closed for renovation. The local authorities have erected on the pavement outside the market a line of sheds, in which the stallholders from the indoor market are allowed to set up their businesses. When the indoor market is renovated, this view will no longer exist.

Tufts of mountain grass catch the last rays of light on the snow-clad slopes of Beinn-y-Phott as the chain of summits extending from Snaefell all the way to North Barrule are beautifully illuminated in the distance. This was taken a few weeks ago in what was probably the last patch of winter weather we can expect for the Isle of Man for this season.
On a completely different note, I woke up to the sad news of the passing of the astrophotographer Alyn Wallace this morning. I’m genuinely shocked and saddened by this, particularly as he was so young. I didn’t personally know Alyn, but I’ve followed his photography adventures and journey keenly for the last 6 years or so. He was an inspiring, engaging and extremely talented photographer who without a doubt had a profound impact on many thousands of photographers across the globe. Half the battle with photography is finding that motivation to drag yourself out the front door to face what are usually uncomfortable environmental conditions head on. Watching his adventures never failed to fill me to the brim with photographic enthusiasm to do this. A reminder if we ever needed it that life is a fragile and fleeting thing. RIP Alyn ✨
