For a while last weekend the flood control structure in Creekside Park was in competition for the largest open body of water in El Cerrito. (City swim center not included.)
It was just puddles today but the pond may be back tomorrow.

This is a photograph from the Ringtown Hurling Club Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races, fun runs, and walks which were held in Whitehall, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Easter Monday (April 6th 2015) at 11:00 and 11:15 respectively. Ringtown Hurling club is situated in Whitehall which is on the R394 between Mullingar and Castlepollard. The GAA club grounds are shown here on Google Streetview [www.google.ie/maps/@53.643618,-7.298024,3a,75y,277.13h,90...]. The half marathon started outside the GAA club. The 10KM race started about 1KM away from the start/finish area. Both races shared the same route. The race event was also a fundraiser for the charity TEAM (Temporary Emergency Accomodation Mullingar) which provides emergency accomodation for women and children of the midlands who are subject of domestic and sexual violence. They are located at Teach Fáilte, Green Road, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. 55 participants took part in the Half marathon while approximately 85 participants took part in the 10KM.

The half marathon started at the GAA club. The main loop of 6 miles started here at the GAA club and proceeded around some beautiful rural back roads with major turns at [goo.gl/maps/8Iw9S], [goo.gl/maps/in6yE], and [goo.gl/maps/JJzwM] before joining up with the R394 and Castlepollard and returning back to Ringtown/Whitehall. The 10KM race was held on this same route but having departed before the half marathon the participants were mostly infront of the main field in the half marathon.
This was the GAA club's second hosting of this event and the overwhelming reaction of participants was that it went perfectly again following on from last year's very successful event. There was a team of Motorcycle outriders and Gardai who expertly controlled traffic flow (particularly along the very busy R394) and made for very safe running conditions for all participants. There was a wonderful selection of refreshments provided afterwards and maybe people were able to sit out in the sun and enjoy a well earned rest after the race. Shower facilities were provided in the GAA club.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. In 1866 the original St Jude's Church of England was simply a temporary wooden structure erected for worship on a triangular block of land between Lygon, Palmerston and Keppel Streets in the busily growing working class suburb of Carlton, in Melbourne's inner north. However, between 1866 and 1867 the church's chancel, four bays of the nave, and vestry of the church that we see today were erected. St Jude's Church of England was built to the designs of Melbourne architects Reed and Barnes. The contractor awared the building of St Jude's was John Pigdon. Between 1869 and 1870 the remaining four bays of the nave, balcony, narthex and crypt were erected. In 1874 the south porch and steps and area wall were erected, and the iron railings and Lygon Street gates were erected in the same year.
Designed in Gothic style so popular with the Victorians, St Jude's Church of England is a beautiful polychromatic brick ecclesiastical building erected on a bluestone plinth with dark hawthorn brick walls and red and cream brick quoining, diaperwork and window surrounds. The plastered interior includes a western gallery, an 1868 George Fincham pipe organ, and stained glass by several prominent glass designers and makers, including Melbourne based stained glass window manufacturers Ferguson and Urie, Rogers and Hughes, Brooks Robinson, and William Montgomery. St Jude's Church of England is of architectural significance as it is an early example of Gothic-polychrome and one of the first fully polychromatic brick churches in Australia, and the building is heritage listed.
In 2009, after much fundraising from the parish, St Jude's Church of England went under a full restoration at the cost of one million dollars, which included painstaking picking out of the bricks with newly laid mortar and a renovated slate roof. On the 18th of October 2014 in the wee hours of the morning, a fire was deliberately started in St Jude's basement. The fire was noticed around four o'clock in the morning when flames were seen engulfing the roof, chancel windows and basement. Fifty Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade trucks were required to bring the blaze under control, which they managed to do in around an hour. Whilst the fire was contained to the chancel and did not burn down the vicarage built against the chancel, St Jude's Church has lost several of its largest and most stunning original Victorian windows which were installed in the chancel. The damage bill is still estimated to be around $500,000.00 and the congregation has been forced to temporarily give up their beautiful place of worship. At the time of writing this, an appeal has been established to raise funds to restore the church and the congregation is meeting in various places within close proximity of St Jude's.
On a personal note, I was very fortunate to have visited St Jude's Church of England on my birthday, just over a month before the fire, after being granted a special request to photograph their stained glass windows in detail. I am very grateful to the staff of St Jude's for granting my request, even more so now that some of the windows are no longer there to admire. It is to the staff and congregation of St Jude's Church of England that I dedicate this set of photographs of their beautiful church; both inside and out.

There's Mr. Mac and Mrs. PC, some books and magazines, the scanner, printer, Wacom and a gigantic pile of mess, carton boxes and... notice the walls ;) But nothing withstands creative moods in here!
Spring High School attempted to require students to wear photo identification at all times. My friends and I were particularly averse to the idea, and we accumulated a large number of temporary IDs. I thought the tie was pretty subversive and wore it to many school-related functions, including my high school graduation where I gave the valedictorian address.
Constructed in May or June, 2001.
During renovation I have a little kitchen on moveable scaffolding set up in what will eventually be the library. It's very functional, if a bit like glorified camping.
Temporary cables are hanging from the pylons of the West Tower before being connected to the pier table. The temporary cables keep the structure stable as the deck is built. The permanent cables are then attached to the new deck.
