There 's nothing like cool temperatures and fresh air to raise the spirits. during my forays to the Alabama Hills the temperature can get up into the 100's and when they do, this is where I seek refuge. At around 9000 ft in elevation the difference in temperature is about 15 degrees and there nothing better the a fine mist that floats away from the falls right onto your weary soul.
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great Weekend!! :)

This shot has been taken in Manarola during the blue hour, the temperature was around five degres and the waves were pretty high in the sea. The town is almost desert during winter, but always a beautiful subject to photograph.
Temperatures have been wild lately. Thursday the high was 30F, yesterday the high was 75F. Santa won't know what to think
Thanks to the mild temperatures (it's the warmest October ever) the roses are still blooming as if it were still summer.
Turtles are unable to regulate their body temperatures independently, so they are completely dependent on the temperature of their environment. For this reason, they need to sunbathe frequently to warm themselves and maintain their body temperatures.
The red-eared slider gets its name from the small, red stripe around its ears, or where its ears would be, and from its ability to slide quickly off rocks and logs into the water.
Red-eared sliders are native to the Southern United States and northern Mexico, but have become established in other places because of pet releases, and have become an invasive species in many areas where they outcompete native species.
The carapace of this species can reach more than 40 cm (16 in) in length, but the typical length ranges from 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 in). The females of the species are usually larger than the males. They typically live between 20 and 30 years.

Sesame Knot Rolls
Challah Recipe (Marylyn Pisseri)
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 eggs, room temperature
4 cups bread flour
2 1/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
Place warm water, sugar, honey, vegetable oil, salt, 2 eggs, flour and yeast in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough cycle; press Start.
After the machine is done, take the dough out, and place it on a very lightly floured board, punch the dough down, and let rest for 5 minutes.
For challahs: Divide the dough in half. Then divide into 3 equal pieces, roll into ropes about 12 to 14 inches, and braid into a loaf. Do the same with the remaining other half. Gently put the loaves on a greased cookie sheet, mist with water, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours in a warm, draft free place, until double in size.
For rolls: Divide dough into 12 rolls. Shape into long pieces and make a knot. Let rise for at least an hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small bowl, beat together 1 egg, 1 tablespoon water and 2 Tbsps powdered sugar.
Brush risen loaves with egg mixture. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes.

It was early April but the temperature was in the mid 20s so it was perfect for walking along The Tiber.
Brrr - It was really cold that day in Austria (-13 °C). The bright side of this temperatures are the wonderful frozen things all around.

The temperature has been -22 C for the past four days and will continue till mid next week. Ain't I lovin' it? Keep warm my friends and enjoy the weekend.
DEW POINT
The dew point is the temperature at which dew would form assuming all other conditions remained the same. The dew point is a function of the air temperature and humidy. The dew point temperature can never be higher than the air temperature. If the dew point temp and air temp are the same, than the humidity must be 100%.
Unseasonably warm temperatures where I live are still keeping many of the leaves from turning. And some of those that are starting to turn ain't among the prettiest that you'll ever see. But I kinda liked the backlit look of these, especially with that warm sun flare peeking through.

Temperatures are below zero now. Only a short intermezzo but enough for a small Winter feeling. Hücker Moor, Ostwestfalen, Germany

After weeks with temperatures around 30C I am a little bit fed up just taking shots of hot fields with blue skies. After a cold and long Winter we all longed for Spring and Summer. And our prayers were heard. Instantly and with immediate effect. Weather conditions improved in the late afternoon. This is a northwestward view from a hill that used to be the site for Chichijima's weather station.
The island in the left is Nishijima (西島, western island), while those in the right are Hyoutanjima (瓢箪島 gourd island), Anijima (兄島 older brother island), and Hitomarujima (人丸島).
According the climate data provided by Japan Meteorological Agency, average temperature of the coldest month in Chichijima is 18.5 degree Celsius, which means Chichijima has a tropical climate.
Annual precipitation of Chichijima is 1,296 mm, and the precipitation of the driest month is 51.6 mm, which means Chichijima has the tropical monsoon climate (Am) as compared to the humid subtropical climate (Cfa) in the Izu islands and the main island part of Tokyo.
Chichijima's climate is relatively dry judging from the Japanese standard; annual precipitation of downtown Tokyo is 1,530 mm.
We still have temperatures reaching the upper 80's however, butterfly season is slowing down now as usual.
This is Florida's state butterfly, Heliconius charithonia, the zebra longwing or zebra heliconian. When they are flying around the host plants (corky stem or passiflora biflora) it almost looks like they are floating. This one was enjoying a bit of nectar from the Heather blooms in the backyard when I noticed it in the spotlight of the sunshine.
Enjoy your day and happy snapping.
Temperatures were cold enough this winter for the Chicago River to freeze, a relatively rare historical occurrence. The ice should be all gone by St. Patrick's Day, just in time for the river to be dyed green :)

Seamans Beach, Jervis Bay, a panorama stitched together from 12 shots taken with a wide angle lens.
Jervis Bay is renowned for its white sand beaches. Seamans Beach is probably the most famous. It is about 2 km long. At its northern end, is the village of Hyams Beach and at its southern end is HMAS Creswell, training college for the Royal Australian Navy.
On the day the photo was taken the water temperature (24-25 deg C) was warmer than the air temperature.

As the temperature outside has climbed closer to three digits, I started thinking about how I wish for ice or snow on days like these. The more I thought about it, I found I agree with Niels Bohr's statement.

Drying those feathers before the temperature drops at night is a chore that many Darters have to put up with after a days fishing.
A great walk on the beach yesterday with the tide nearly in, and the sun beating down . The temperature on top of the cliffs was really cold, but below on the beach out of the raw northerly wind I was shedding layers. The waterfall at Cwm Mawr was flowing well after the rain at the weekend had saturated the ground. I'm running out of obvious titles, but I spotted Pinnochio's furniture by Frank Zappa, perfect.
Check out our morning temperature today in the first comment box. :) The wind chill factor is nasty - my camera doesn't like to be out in this temperature.

Away For The Season...
A brisk hike in the cold autumn air,. you can feel fall slipping away and winter slowly creeping in; the temperatures over the past two weeks has steadily dropped and today was no exception.
The maintenance staff at the park have already winter preparations under way; they have stacked picnic tables and dragged all the canoes off to the back of the shed for winter storage.

Coming home Yesterday was perfect temperature 16F for frozen bubbles. 90 to be exact, many of them went to trash.
The photo was taken by our front door bush.
The trip here was spontaneous. Someone offered to meet the dawn on Istra and we supported everything, especially since the weather promised to be frosty. In winter, Istra practically does not freeze due to the large abundance of springs that feed the river. The temperature of the springs is about + 8C, so the river is heated in winter. In severe frosts, the river begins to soar, enveloping everything around with fluffy hoarfrost.
It was quite a cool morning, only -26 Celsius. There was a very dense fog over the river, we had to wait for the sun to rise in order to see at least anything. I was worried about photographic equipment, the tripod was covered with frost and it was very difficult to work with it. Well, it was quite an interesting experience.
I got a late start today, but I needed to get out. I went to my favorite butterfly field which has had an explosion of wild flowers in the last two weeks with all the rain we've had. There is nothing better than being in a field awash with waist high flowers at 1:00 PM in the afternoon when the temperature is 91 degrees F and the heat index is 100 degrees F, but this is when the butterflies are the most active. It is hard but I really do love it. There were dozens of long tail skippers, dusk wing skippers, gulf fritillary, clouded sulfur and tiger swallowtail.
In these freezing temperatures, I once again tried to freeze soap bubbles. Unfortunately, they did not turn out as I had hoped. Either they froze too quickly or too slowly. I constantly had to change batteries and had icy cold fingers. It wasn't really windless either. When some of the bubble liquid ran over my remote trigger and started to freeze, I gave up.
A Tundra Swan (Cygnus columbianus) stands on the frozen surface of a local pond with temperatures well bellow freezing over night in the area east of Tofield, Alberta, Canada. It caught many waterbird species off guard in the spring migration where they were forced to sit on the icy surfaces.

Early one cold morning I ventured outside. I knew that my primrose flowers had been blooming, which gave me hope for an early Spring. The petals were sprinkled with ice with the center of the flower being a small frozen lake (perhaps for adventurous ants to skate upon). ;) Have a lovely day wherever you are!
This is the road that crosses Death Valley, California. I stopped and got out of the car momentarily to take some images then back inside as the temperature was 103 Deg F.
