CEA Myanmar delivered a Manitou MT860 Tele-handler to the global construction company LaFarge, to be used at their recently acquired ready-mix batching plant. The batching plant supplies concrete for the new condo development and construction in Star City.
Kevin Fisher Managing Director of CEA Project Logistics handed over the keys to Philip Hughes, Plant Manager for LaFarge at the Star City construction site.
“This is the first batching plant for Myanmar, and with state of the art equipment like our new Manitou Tele-handler we can ensure client satisfaction”
The robust machine has a 6- ton capacity and 8 metre reach enabling the unit to load sand, aggregate and other materials used in concrete production. LaFarge opted for a 3 cubic meter bucket attachment and hydraulic brush attachment which will aid in keeping the plant clean.
Star City is a premier development located on the South Bank of the Thanyalin River and is a self-contained project complete with gym, restaurants, golf course and sports club. The location is just 12 kilometers away from the Thilawa Special Economic Zone development and 15 kilometers from downtown Yangon.
LaFarge is one of the world’s large concrete producers and has a strong foothold in Myanmar riding on international standards for concrete production. The ready-mix plant is a first for LaFarge in Myanmar which already has a bulk concrete plant supplying Yangon’s growing infrastructure.

Four Containers arrived at location and preparation to un-stuff began. Oversized loads were inspected for damage in transit, a pre-determined lifting plan actioned. Steel.Steel beams were stacked on top of the cargo which meant that manual labor was needed to un-stuff each container prior to using the MHE.
Once the steel had been removed manually, pallet trucks and fork lifts made easy work of un-stuffing the containers and placing the cargoes in the designated unpacking area.
Each container presented a different challenge regarding the safest way to un-stuff the cargo to prevent any damage. Eight meter steel beams had to be manually un-stacked before the telehandler could reach into the containers and pull the individual pieces out.
CEA provided all plastic sheeting and tarpaulins made at our plastic production facilities in Laem Chabang, these would protect the new ground surface from heavy equipment damage whilst the operation was underway.
The oversized cargo was lifted out of the containers through the use of a Reach Stacker.
Each of the four containers presented their own individual difficulties for manual and mechanical un-stuffing, the CEA team improvised and adapted well to overcome each hurdle much to the delight of the client.
The McDonald's at Speedfields Park, Fareham closed in late January 2017 for a major refurbishment of the whole site. Although well patronised, this branch had suffered from limited parking (although there are other car parks nearby) and an awkwardly placed drive thru, the queue for which could affect local traffic movement and access to parking.
By 26 February, with a little over a week to go to the planned re-opening, considerable progress had been made with glazing in place and the revised surface arrangements taking shape. Work had continued on a Sunday but there was still a lot to do.
This vehicle is a Manitou MT625H telehandler. Note: this machine is produced as a telehander but does not seem in this case to have all the available fittings.
