These two trailers were in an earlier life engineers vans with Manx Telecom, Bedford TKs I think. Upon retirement from Telecom the cabs, engines etc were removed and the front chassis modified into a top hitch and there you go secure trailers for building sites.

A much loved sight on the London horizon, but lamented for its removal from the tourist trail in 1980 after it was deemed too much of a security risk following a terrorist attack in 1971.
It was opened in 1965 and had a brilliant revolving restaurant at the top, which I can remember being taken to by my Nan as a teen! I say 'had' but in fact it's still in use for BT corporate events and it's still a major UK communications hub.

Purdown BT Tower was built in 1970 and is located on a hill (Purdown) just north of the city centre of Bristol, Lockleaze.
It is a prominent landmark, visible from much of the city, used mainly for point-to-point microwave links and forms part of the British Telecom microwave network. It is one of twelve reinforced concrete towers owned by BT in the UK and one of the few communication towers built of reinforced concrete.
This tower always brings back memories for me of my childhood days visiting my grandparents who lived in Cotman Walk just below the tower, or so it seemed!
