Health Tech ’15, was revelatory in two ways: It showed first hand the miracle of modern medicine and gave the 600+ attendees a true glimpse of how the intersection of science, technology, and healthcare were taking place in Westchester County.
Robots were in action on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Penn State York when 35 teams of middle and high school students took part in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) South Central PA Regional Qualifier, a robotics competition. More than 500 attendees, including competitors, volunteers, and spectators attended the event. The winning alliance, comprised of three teams, were the Javengers from Enola, Pennsylvania; Cubix^3 from Hampstead, Maryland; and Sparks from Villanova, Pennsylvania. The finalist alliance, or second place winners, included Imagine It from Palmyra, Pennsylvania; Metal Works from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and GearHounds, from York, Pennsylvania. This was the seventh time the campus has hosted an FTC event.

The University Libraries were well-represented at Tech Fest. The exhibitors promoted various technologies and services, including the new digitization unit, GIS mapping, RSS feeds, interlibrary loan services, a new web portal for mobile devices, gaming, and text messaging through the library catalog. What a crew!
