The Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Saint Peter in York, commonly known as York Minster, is the cathedral of York, North Yorkshire, England, and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe. The minster is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the third-highest office of the Church of England (after the monarch as Supreme Governor and the Archbishop of Canterbury), and is the mother church for the Diocese of York and the Province of York. It is administered by its Dean and chapter. The title "minster" is attributed to churches established in the Anglo-Saxon period as missionary teaching churches, and serves now as an honorific title; the word Metropolitical in the formal name refers to the Archbishop of York's role as the Metropolitan bishop of the Province of York.

The Church and its chapels (La Iglesia de San Francisco), which were considered sacred places.
Together, Church and Convent encompass three hectares including 13 cloisters (six of them major), three churches, and a large courtyard. In total, about 40,000 square meters of construction. San Francisco follows the classical typology of medieval monasteries. The main Church is the guiding axis and from there the cloister galleries extend: the refectory, the chapterhouse, and winery. These define a quadrangular courtyard, with the four respective pandas, or galleries: that of the chapter room, the refectory, the converts, and the mandatum. In addition to the basic dependencies of a convent, there were areas devoted to health care, education, crafts, a garden, and even a jail (to maintain strict discipline). The kitchen and dispensery operated in the cloister of services.

Walking from the Old Town’s narrow colonial streets into this open plaza reveals one of the finest sights in all of Ecuador: a sweeping cobblestone plaza backed by the mountainous backdrop of Volcán Pichincha, and the long, whitewashed walls and twin bell towers of Ecuador’s oldest church.

The Public Square (Plaza de San Francisco) was a purely urban space, demarcated and connected to various public activities (teaching, market, water supply).

Sad part of our History.
In pre-Hispanic Quito, the current lands of the Church and Convent of San Francisco were occupied by the royal palace of the Inca Huayna Cápac, before the advance of the armies commanded by the Spaniards from the south and the impossibility of defending the city the indigenous general Rumiñahui arranged the total destruction of it. In the city fire the palace was destroyed and buried under a huge amount of rubble and garbage. One of Rumiñahui's soldiers was the great-grandfather of the indigenous Cantuña, who as an eyewitness to the events had full knowledge of what was buried in the place. The construction of the church and convent of San Francisco began around 1537, just three years after the Spanish foundation of the city, with the completion of a provisional temple that was maintained until 1550, when construction of the current building began and which was completed around 1680. Although the building was officially inaugurated in 1705.

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Many of you will know how fortunate I have been in building a mutually trusting connection with this fox over the past 4 years.
Here I am introducing my grandson, to show and teach him the way to respect wildlife and realise animals are to be treated as an essential part of our lives and not to be hunted to extinction.
I always remember watching Sir David Attenborough sitting amongst gorillas in the forests of West Africa. What a statement that was!
Animals are not necessarily dangerous.
Another important lesson to learn.

Today was a good day.
Was invited to teach kids how to cook Macarons. I have no idea how to do it. I was there to help with the English. It was wonderful. We had a great time. It was wonderful.

i was teaching a one-on-one street photography workshop. my student’s camera battery gave up. i handed him my leica q3. my fuji x-t5 was still with me, the 50mm f1 a quiet beast in low light. he disappeared into the paseo del borne, searching for moments.
i saw a street singer setting up his mic. beside him, a girl on a bench. i asked if i could take her portrait. she nodded, then started posing—effortless, unexpected. the light was bad. i pointed to a storefront, told her it would work like a softbox. she followed. then she gave me this. hope you like it.

The WU (Wirtschaftsuniversität) is the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Founded in 1898 it is now one of the larger universities in Austria. The new campus close to the Prater park is open since 2009. It contains some fine examples of modern architecture.
The image was taken in front of the Teaching Center at the northeastern border of the campus. It was designed by Vienna-based architects BUSarchitektur ZT GmbH.
Contrast enhancement and perspective correction was done in Adobe Lightroom. Sunrays remained unchanged. The image on the poster stand was copied from a similar (but different) photo using Photoshop.

The dexterity with which elephants pull up grass clumps and small acacia saplings is something that has to be learnt from watching their mothers and older siblings. I love watching the babies trying to control their wayward trunks and feet!
